1st generation RL
1st generation RL
Twenty years ago I was in between jobs and decided to try and make some money doing car repair out of my 3-car garage in an old neighborhood in Colorado Springs. The garage was at the back of the property with alley access and at the time we had an older Honda Accord with the pop-up head lights and an Acura Vigor with that sweet in-line 5 cylinder. Things were good, customer referrals were building every week and eventually I had the opportunity to perform the timing belt/water pump job on a 1999 Acura RL. Wow, what an impressive car that also had impressive price tag but I was determined that one day I would own an RL for myself. Fast forward 10 years, my wife and I moved to Denver to begin the care we promised her parents who were now over 80 years old. We bought our first used RL and loved it, sold it to friend and found another black RL with lower miles from a Real Estate agent who never missed a service with the dealer. Great car, now with 173k on the odometer it still drives like new but I never stopped searching for the next one to buy and eventually found a 2002 with 68k original miles, Indigo Blue Pearl and flawless. we don't drive it too often because I always tell my wife "This is our future car."
The one we will need in the future we just purchased it ahead of time, the guy wanted 9k, I gave him 8k. All my friends think I'm crazy and they are right, I'm crazy about the first generation RL.
