CT tuning?

wondering what my options are for getting my car tuned. I know of mild to wild in orange (http://www.insiderpages.com/b/3712023588) and nino performance in bethany (http://www.merchantcircle.com/busine...e.203-393-3434)

but nowhere else.. anyone know of anything noteworthy? reputable places? how about dyno shops?

They just moved to a new building, not sure on the machine shop, but they can get it done. And yes, they have a dyno.

That site says the owner is James Kakalertis... is he related to George Kakalertis (owner/operator of ICS?) I would assume so.

Hey man, what's up, I remember you from the NY meet in the fall.

Did you ever get your car K-pro'd?

I'm surprised you're not going to start on another platform.

by another platform do you mean a swap then tune? like an h or k? a k would be interesting, but like the f20c it lacks tq, a turbo f23 would give some good ol fashion tq.

I would love to do an n22 swap, but realistically...

I live in Stamford and drive by Imported Cars of Stamford (ICS) everyday. Do not go there... unless you don't plan on having your car back sometime this year. Plus they are $$$$. A friend of a friends built Evo blew up while they were tuning it. ICS was like sorry can't help you. Also they've only had that dyno for two or three years now.
You might try Pruven Performance in Milford. They are the ones who dynoed my car. They've been tuning at least 10 years. They have sick drag cars too!

I'm bumping this thread to retract my statements made in the post quoted above. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO PRUVEN PERFORMANCE !!!!!!!

I ended up recommending my friend to Pruven Performance in Milford, CT. It was the biggest mistake I have ever made when recommending anything to anyone.

I am not looking to blackball, spam, or spread rumors. This is actual fact and I must share it with the community so nobody else has an experience like my friend did with this poor excuse for a performance shop. This is all after ICS in Stamford screwed him over as well.

All they had to do was tune his turboed car. He dropped the car off to them with the turbo installed and engine running. They finally got to it 2 weeks later... Before it was to be dynoed they did a compression check and found bad numbers and possible floated valves. We knew this was a possibility because of a miss-shift 6 months earlier. So he went ahead and had them do the work because they sounded like they could get it done properly, and promised a quick turn around.

He needed the head decked (just one it's a 4-banger) and new valves installed. Sounds pretty simple huh? He paid them half the bill up front ($900) thinking that would have it done more quickly. Well they ended up having his car for more than 3 months and the job still wasn't completed. They sat on his money, asked for more money even though he paid for more than the parts needed. Which is what they said the down payment was for.

After a few weeks went by he began to call and ask for updates, none were given only excuses. He heard everything from the machine shop is still working on the head, to the parts have not come in... etc. etc. It got to the point were they would no longer answer the phone to his number, we had to call from other numbers and miraculously they picked up the phone. He started to drop by on occasions thinking face to face appearances would get the job done. Each time his car was found outside and untouched...

So finally he got a lawyer and threatened to sue. He had to pay a tow truck to remove the car from their facility. The upper parts of the engine and turbo set-up was given back to him in boxes!!! His passenger seat was removed and left unbolted???? For what reason we still don't know. But wait.... it gets worse!

The car was then brought to "The Shop" in Norwalk CT. Thank God for them! Finally a place willing to do the work properly. However they were meet with the task of putting all the pieces back together and finding out what was missing. This process caused delay after delay as you could imagine. Each time progress was made there were set backs when parts were found missing. For instance: his drive-shaft and associated bearings, nut, and expensive bracket. His engine gaskets, and other things I can't remember. They started the car to find and found an oil leak, and a exhaust leak. Pruven somehow put a crack in his brand new turbo manifold!!

When he called Pruven to ask about the missing parts he was met with anger and denial, then they hung up the phone on him twice! Nice right? What a class act... Seriously I see why if you go to you-tube and punch in Pruven Performance you get video after video of pissed off customers.

To sum it all up he ending up getting about $400 back from Pruven because of his lawyer. But still ended up paying thousands more then he should have if you factor in the Shop having to fix Pruven's mistakes and all the missing parts. So guys do yourself a favor and do your research before you bring your car to any shop to get it tuned .
