Anyone in CT with XLR8 quads?

i'm thinking about getting in on this group buy... but i'd really like to hear the exhaust in person first.

anyone near the manchester area with either XLR8 or ATLP... gotta decide which route to go!

thanks in advance!

yea Sean has them, PM him and maybe you guys can meet up and you can check his out. His s/n is s_heng_62, hes the one with the s/c type s. Anyway yea ive heard them in person and they sound great! My personal choice would be the atlp quads but since Mike no longer makes them, id go with the XLR8 if you are looking for quads, you wont regret it

is it real loud? i want something that resembles the sound of a Z or G35, maybe a little more aggressive than that. i don't want something that is going to annoy the hell out of my highway driving...a little hum is ok, but i don't want it to get annoying, you know?

i am hearing that they are doing another round of ATLP quads soon, maybe i should just hold out...everyone seems to love them!

well think of it this way, im a girl so I dont want a loud exhaust on my car either. I think the XLR8 is loud but NOTHING compared to say a greddy or a tanabe, know what I mean? I would put an XLR8 on my car, its not annoying loud but you can definitely hear it.

I really encourage you to contact Sean and just let him know you are interested in hearing his car. He is really a cool guy and Im sure he wouldnt mind showing it to you, just send him a quick PM. Besides Im sure you would like to see the s/c type s anyway right? The hell with the exhaust his car is definitely worth seeing if you havent seen it before, it's sick!

And yes I also heard Mike (atlp) was designing something else for the type-s owners soon which means quad exhausts sooooo yea if you are looking for an atlp specifically you may want to hold out for this. Idk how long itll be though....

anyways good luck

If youre looking for something that sounds like a z/g35 or a bit more, I would suggest looking into 'stage 3' exahust mod, which is what I have. Its just removing the mid-muffler and replacing the stock resonator with a dynamax one. Noticeable difference and it gives you the tone you are looking for, also cheap to do - about 100 total. No power gains to this mod.

Doing xlr8 or atlp will give you an obvious exhaust note. It will be clear that youve done something to your exhaust, both aesthetically and acoustically. These will run you a lot more - in the 1k range plus install if you dont do it yourself.

^i'm not new to modding...but i am new to modding my TL-S. I've had fully modded Civic Si's, and Evo, etc...but there were SO many options for the parts that i had no trouble choosing. Basically its ATLP or XLR8, and i can't decide which i would like better. The videos posted online do not do any of these exhaust systems justice, so i'm having a hard time choosing. The one thing that i really like on the TL is how smooth and quiet it is, yet an agressive exhaust note is the only thing i really think is missing! I just want to make sure what i get gives me that nice throaty growl, but keeps things fairly quiet when i'm driving normally.

This is the longest i have owned a car and kept it otherwise stock...i'm starting to get the itch again!

I had an HKS Hi-Power on my Evo, and that was pretty nice sounding, yet not too loud.
Had a Greddy SP2 on my 06 Si and that was DEAD QUIET, too quiet for me.
Had a Mugen TwinLoop on my 1999 Si and that was also pretty much dead quiet.

It's tough taking advice from Acura owners because it's a different type of person that mods a TL than someone that mods a Civic. So when people say the XLR8 is loud, i'm not sure what it really means...

i'll PM that guy and see if he has some time to meet up!

If there are any meets around the manchester area, let me know. i'm pretty busy for the next few weekends, then i'm off to Japan end of July
