Valencia Confirmed for 2008
Bernie Ecclestone has confirmed that Spain will host two grand prix next year - as he closed the deal on a race through the streets of Valencia.
The event was initially announced early in May and the F1 supremo confirmed on Friday that a contract had been signed
"The agreement was signed this morning along exactly the same lines as we announced last month," the 76-year-old told Reuters.
"The agreement is for seven years."
The race will be run around the city's harbourside streets on a track between 2.5 and 2.7 miles long and will go by the moniker of the European Grand Prix.
It will join Monaco and another new venue, Singapore, as the only dedicated street venues on the F1 calendar.
Reports claim that the city is paying around 26 million euros to host the event that seeks to cash in on F1's increasing popularity in the Iberian country.
Ecclestone signed the deal with the Valmor Sport group, an organisation set up by former motorcycle racer Jorge Martinez Aspar and businessman Fernando Roig, who is president of Villarreal football club.
The Valencia regional government also confirmed the deal, according to The Associated Press.

I think Montreal is the best place to hold the Canadian GP. Having lived there for 6 years, I don't see Toronto (where I am now) coming close to matching the atmosphere of a GP week in Montreal.

I don't see why not. I've been to both the Cad GP and Indy and while the F1 race has the better atmosphere I don't think it had anything to do with the venue or city, but everything to do with the cars and cache of F1.
The Indy is a phenomenally supported and successful event in Toronto. I could only imagine how big an F1 race would be.

I think the city has a lot to do with the atmosphere of the whole event. Everything in Montreal ends up getting condensed in downtown, in the square formed by St. Laurent and Crescent and a few blocks north and south of Sherbrooke. I don't see that happening in a city as spread out as Toronto.
People's attitude in Montreal is a lot more conducive to an F1 event than Toronto, in my opinion. Maybe I'm biased. Hell I definitely am biased.

Bernie wants a 20-race calendar & I would love that!
Remember that this is the last year (on contract) for Indy as to after this year's G.P. it will be changed to suit MotoGP (which I love almost as much as F1 .... but not really!). If indeed Indianapolis picks up another year (or 2 or whatever) this will be the last year on the embankment (sp.?)......

Back to topic, Valencia would be such a great place to watch the race by the harbor at night no less! I've always wanted to go to Spain, same for my wife, maybe this is my chance!
Oh and BTW, having been to many Molson Indy races in T.O. and many F1 races in Montreal, there is no atmosphere in the former that comes close to matching that of Montreal's. I say Montreal FTW and ownz T.O. handsdown in that department.
