Great race, our boy can really drive! I think without such a good driver we may have finsihed 4th, which still would have said alot about this new RTR car.
The little interview was interesting too. Coming from an RSX, it sounds like the extra torque in the TSX is going to help him rocket out of the turns. I think that TSX needs some more HP though, as it was losing ground on the straights. It also got torched off the line
Overall a real good showing for sure. Hopefully next time they can put some in-car cameras in the TSX!

Good to see the TSX come up with a good first showing. Kleinubing seemed to be happy with its performance too from what he said in his interview after the race. That move he made on the first lap to take the lead was pretty damn sweet.

I capped (I hope - I ran out of disk space, but it says 1:12 total time) the thing.
I'll probably be encoding it to DivX with the commercials cut out.
PM me if somebody wants it.
It's 480 x 360 - sorry, I barely had enough space for this, let alone full NTSC frame size.

Did you hear Memo Gidley (sp?) take a bit of a shot at FWD?
He said something like only driving FWD when he got a rental.

TSX got torched on the restart and on most straights. But they also said Sebring was a HP track. Wait until they hit some handling tracks. The 3 RSX wins last year were all handling tracks and the ITR also dominated on handling tracks. After some tuning this car should win more than once this year.
Anyone watch the GT race? Did you guys see the Audi RS6 take off from the start. He was away before the CTS-V even budged. Amazing AWD takeoff.

Yet another reason to buy the 200 GB SATA drive.

I saw the GT race. The Audi did kill the CTS-V off the start but afterwards the CTS-Vs just dominated. Did you see Pilgrim come all the way back from last after stalling on the start back to 2nd to finish 1-2. It was a pretty sweet race and the CTS-Vs proved that they are worthy competitors this year if anyone even doubted them in the first place.

Just saw the highlights on SPEED. Pilgram stalled dropped to last (30th) and came all the way back to finnish second. Passing 28 cars is impressive, but doing it in less than 50 minutes which is the max race time is even more impressive.
What I don't understand is the other Vettes. They're all Z06's so they should have the same power as the CTS-V. The cars should be lighter and this is the Caddy's first season. How their so far ahead of everyone else in the first race is especially the other Vettes.

Some nice pictures from fridays event. Including an especially nice one of 2 bimmers eating tsx exhaust.

BTW, i'm going to sticky this thread so we can use it through-out what should be a great season.

Whats with TOV always reffering to this TSX as a A-Spec equipped TSX? I mean sure Acura paying them to advertise it as such but it makes no sense. There is no A-Spec TSX available for one to walk into a dealer and say I want the A-Spec TSX just like the RTR one I saw on TV?
Unless there's one just around the corner?
BTW fdl that first pic makes agreat wallpaper.

I think Kleinubing had a bit of a hard time battling off Sofronas, and he admits he got lucky. But then Kleinubing has a lot more experience, even though this is the inaugural race in the TSX, so there are a lot of factors.
A part of me thinks Kleinubing is still hesitant on handling--when it was crowded on the 1st lap, I wonder if he got the jump because he wasn't really thinking and really kind of let loose, but when he just had to battle Sofronas, he got a little cautious. Who really knows? I guess we'll just have to wait for the rest of the season to unfold.

Don't listen to me.
A-spec is a package that includes:
-OEM ground effect
-Rear spoiler
-lighter wheels and better tires
-coilovers
-Springs (lower car 1 inch)
-better shocks
-one badge that says "A-Spec"

Acura RSX A-Spec
A-Spec stands for the highest level of specification and engineering standards, and in this case, the standard would reflect the A-Spec package sold for the Acura RSX.
The A-Spec sports suspension components lower the vehicle approximately 1 inch and provides a firm, aggressive driving experience while maintaining a comfortable level of handling on street and highway roads.
The plus-one wheels and tires, 17” for RSX, are designed specifically for the A-Spec packages. The alloy wheel offset is matched to the vehicle suspension joints. The hubs are machined to perfectly match Acura suspension components to help establish a smooth ride.
The Aero Kit and Wing Spoiler are manufactured using a molding process that matches other factory molded components and are color matched to factory specifications.
Because all of these accessories are manufactured by Acura, the factory warranty of 4 years/50,000 miles applies to the entire package.

I know he had to drop a lot of weight from the car, but I wish he would of kept the HIDs. I think that really add to the look of our TSX.

From RealTime racing's website:
That probably answers the A-Spec question....
The RealTime Racing Touring Cars are sponsored by the Acura Division of American Honda, A-SPEC Performance Parts, Red Line Oil, Eibach Springs, BOSCH, Sparco, Hella, Brembo, Gemini Technologies, Goodridge, Hawk Performance, and Acura Genuine Parts.

Not to rain on anyones parade but the Speed Challenge is very much a drivers series and not a car series. So it makes it impossible to compare say an RSX's race worthiness to a TSX's or a 325i for that matter. The Challenge uses a VTS (vehicle technical sheet) to make a wide range of vehicles very competative, further the R.E.W.A.R.D.S system is used to handicap previous winners with more weight, the more you win the more ballast you must carry thus making it harder and harder to win. This sets up a series where a "new" car in the series can be a backmarker or a front runner off the bat due to the VTS either giving it a bigger advantage or handicapping it more than it should be, this usually gets sorted through the season. This is probably the reason the CTSV was handling the Vettes.
In a less restricted series you would see very wide variations in performance given the wide variation of cars in the Challenge but again it is designed as a drivers series not a car series, more like Nascar than F1 (in the old days).

What I think the most important factor to the TSX's early sucess may be that RTR is most likely the best team with the biggest budget. They seem to be able to win or place up front with any car they field. Wheather the rest of their sucess is because of Kleinubing or the car is debatable IMO.

RTR consistantly won with their ITR. When they switched to the RSX the results were not as good. So the car DOES make a difference. We'll see where the TSX takes them.

just finally saw a taping of it thanks to Revenent's divx version. man, pierre can drive, when he regained second, that was a very impressive move...the stupid turner BMW though just had too much power for the TSX to catch up to.

vtec.net has a gallery up from the first WC race from Sebring but I can't log on! My old accounts don't work cause I'm not getting a new password email, and registering doesn't work either cause they don't send the email verification back to me. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Anyway someone can post the pics up here? =)
