Actually, Jr. said in his post-race interview that his car was a lot better and it could have won it. He had a shot at Gordon going into Turn 1 but wasnt sure if he had the room or not. He didnt push it. What a smart driver.
Good race, but Gordon is still :ghey:

Junior is a decent driver but he'll never come close to JG or his Daddy. If it wasn't for restrictor plate races, he'd never have a shot at the championship.

Yeah Jr. had a top ten car all day. Sucks, but he did manage a 13th place finish and moved up a spot in the points.
Sucks for Stewart, but he did keep his temper in check.

"Hmiel named interim crew chief of No. 8 car"
This will be an interesting rest of the season for Junior.
"MOORESVILLE, N.C. -- Dale Earnhardt Inc. announced Tuesday, effective immediately, that Steve Hmiel will serve as interim crew chief on the No. 8 Budweiser Chevrolet driven by Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Hmiel, who is the technical director at DEI, replaces Pete Rondeau after only 11 races.
Growing pains?Junior talks about the team changes and his '05 season

"We are capable of consistently winning and are focused on that as a company. We are going to concentrate our efforts on improved results with the No. 8 car," said Richie Gilmore, vice president of motorsports for DEI."

Martin Truex Jr.
Who thinks that Martin Truex Jr. shouldnt have been in ther All-Star race?
I think it was fine. He was voted in by the fans which is what NASCAR wanted to do to get the fans involved.
"Based on his status as reigning Busch Series champion, respectable performances in sporadic Nextel Cup Series starts and undeniable marketability, Martin Truex Jr. has proven he belongs at NASCAR's highest level.
But he doesn't belong in the Nextel Cup Series' all-star race. No way.
He's not even a full-time competitor. Never has been. He merely reaped the benefits of being Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s boy.
And hey, more power to him. It's not his fault; it's the system. But the system is flawed and must change.
How's it make Kyle Petty feel when a kid with four Cup starts is racing in the same showcase event with the sport's legends, and he's driving through the tunnel on his way home?
And what about the boys at Wood Brothers Racing? They built NASCAR. They've been at it for a half-century, and a guy who's been at it for a half-season makes the cut over them?
I love the idea of fan interaction. The fan vote is exciting and engages millions in the event that would otherwise have no say. But what happened Saturday just isn't right.
Other than that the current criteria works. But a few tweaks are in order.
To be a Nextel Cup Series all-star, a driver should have to have won a race within the year (since the previous season's all-star event), and/or have won a Cup Series championship in the past five years and/or won the all-star event within the past three years.
Ten years is too large a window. This is the elite, man. Just because a guy was the man in 1996 doesn't mean he will be in 2006. These days a guy might be awesome in March and awful in May.
And the fan vote? Come on. Kerry Earnhardt almost got in last year. This year Truex carried the torch for the Junior Nation. I knew it was coming, even called it on national television.
Drivers eligible for the fan vote should include any winners within the past three seasons otherwise not qualified and any former Cup Series champions not otherwise qualified.
Everyone else has to race their way in via the Open."
