Netflix announced today it is producing an eight-episode fictional miniseries based on the life of Formula 1 legend Ayrton Senna.
According to Variety, the series will dive into Senna's personality, family relationships, and illustrious career. It will kick off following the Brazilian driver's racing debut and his move to England, and end with the three-time champion's tragic death during the San Marino Grand Prix at Imola—coincidentally, a track F1 is set to return to this season after 14 years away from the circuit.
The show will be shot on international locations, including unprecedented access to the São Paulo, Brazil home where Senna grew up, thanks to active participation from the Senna family. It will be produced by Brazilian company Gullane Entertainment.
“It is very special to be able to announce that we will tell the story that only a few people know about him," Viviane Senna, Ayrton’s sister, said in a statement. "The Senna family is committed in making this project something totally unique and unprecedented. And no one better than Netflix, that has a global reach, to be our partner."
The new, still-untitled miniseries follows the success of Senna, the 2010 documentary currently streaming on Netflix, and the site's own Drive to Survive, a reality series that follows the Formula 1 championship, which is currently filming its third season.
The series will be shot in English and Portuguese. It's set to begin streaming sometime in 2022.

How will it film the races? Actual footage?

Whats up with RDX owners?

Fictional? Wonder what creative liberties they'll take.

Sounds documentary-esque from the involvement of the family.
Maybe historical footage spliced with commentary/interviews with family/past drivers
