Micheal Schumacher's last race
I'm not sure if this is in the right forum, but just wanted to mention it was Michael Schumacher's last race today. I didn't always agree with everything he did, but I certainly loved to watch him race. He was a racer who obviously enjoyed what he did, and I wish him luck in whatever he does in the future. I will miss watching you race Michael, as you were truly one of the greatest F1 drivers ever.

The mods will move this soon enough... Anyway, I saw it too. He raced hard, came back from LAST to 4th place! Also set the fastest track time on the last lap.
Fararri is going to GIVE him the F1 car he drove today as as gift. Must be nice.

Hard to make a comparison of Senna and Shumacher.
Micheal has the wins, poles, laps led and all that but Senna has the benefit of people extrapolating the "what would have been"s due to Imola. If Senna doesn't die, does he win 40-50 more races, 3-4 more championships and push the records beyond what schumacher could reach? Hard to say...
Senna was as good as anyone ever has been from 88 to 91 or so. Dying before one's time has it advantages....just like James Dean will always be a 24 year old super-cool motherfucker, Ayrton Senna will always be a world class F1 driver at the height of his skills.

You guys forget Senna was 34 when he died. Statistically he wasn't as good as MS.
MS won roughly 36% of the races he was in (91 of 250) vs. Senna's 25% (41 of 161). Senna if he raced 3 more years till he was 37 like MS when he retired, would surely have eclipsed MS in poles as he had a 65/161 or 40% pole record vs. MS's 68/250 or 27%. For Senna to win as many races as MS during a similar lifespan, he would have had to race 200 more races assuming 25% again, or until 2007 (13.9 years beyond 1994)) or until he was 47 years old. I don't think so . . . . .

I totally agree Chief.
Senna for sure had declined in 92 to 94. However, the popular conception of him is still that "he died in his prime" and thus people thinking he was (or would have been) the best ever.

No you missed it. I was commenting on MJF's right ear in your av-it looks like it partially detaches at the bottom every time the poor bastard shakes. I don't take Parkinson's lightly believe me. My uncle Wayne passed away from it last November 3rd.

Actually I think Rush Limbaugh and his friend over at ABC whose name escapes me are going to beat me there. Rush sez MJF is faking the shaking. Such an asshole.

Schumacher given a piece of 'The World'

Michael Schumacher is expected to be fetted with numerous honours and awards now that he has decided to retire from Formula One racing. However, the gift from the crown prince of Dubai isn't likely to be topped anytime soon.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has decided to give the outgoing F1 driver a piece of the 'The World', part of a series of man-made islands located off the coast of the United Arab Emirates.
The 300 islands clustered together in a nine kilometre zone resemble Earth from aerial photos.
Schumacher's small part of the world is a piece of 'Antarctica' said to be worth $7-million US.
The German's longtime manager, Willi Weber, confirmed the gift, saying the development will be complete in a couple of years time.

Report: Schumacher doesn't rule out comeback
Well, there you go...retirements are never retirements...are they?
From ESPN.com...
From ESPN.com...
BERLIN -- Only a few days after retiring from Formula One, Michael Schumacher has revealed he may consider a return to motor racing.
The seven-time world champion, who turns 38 in January, raced what was thought to be his final Grand Prix at Brazil on Sunday.
But he told Swedish journalist Fredrik af Petersens, in an interview published on www.autosport.com, that he would not rule out coming back in the future.
"Why should I?" he said. "For now, in any case, I can only answer in this way. Niki Lauda went back to racing in F1, Mika Hakkinen races in DTM, but all this happened after some time.
"I can't say with any certainty what I will do in two or three years' time."
