Sad.
I liked the old days better; when former F1 drivers came to race CART in retirement.
Of course that's when US top tier open wheel racing was "good" racing. Now NASCAR is where the money is wrt US racing.
Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

Your comment is spot-on Bearcat. When CART was at its apex, you had Emmo, Sullivan, Mansell and Mario all racing. A quick mind check doesn't reveal any F1 retirees does it? Correct me if I'm wrong.

If CART would've continued, were could have a field right now with Raikkonen, Coulthard, Trulli, and Barrichelo. That would be awesome.

whats CART?
is anyone else here a fan of nascar?
I dunno why these drivers are going to Nascar. I'm not a fan. To me Nascar seems to be presented as more of a show than a race.

So what? I was 6 and hooked on F1 (Monaco, Memorial Day weekends, ABC Sports) when I was a kid.

I went to both F1 and CARt races in the 80's and thoroughly enjoyed both series. Damn shame how Tony screwed up.

I'm the only one in my family that watches racing. And I just got into it recently. Although I watched a few races here and there, but never nascar. Its to boring for me.

^^ - I meant that is where the money is for them (Kimi, Montoya, et al) now. I'm sure F1 pays WAY more than NASCAR, but if you don't have an F1 seat ..... .
Kimi is shown as an entry into the Nationwide race in Charlotte, but ESPN say's he hasn't personally commited to the race.
Then, testing in Robby Gordon's car at VIR, Kimi wrecked it.

.... Despite earlier reports that Raikkonen is on the entry list of this weekend's Top Gear 300 Nationwide Series race, it's emerged that he has not yet actually committed to driving Joe Nemechek's #87 NEMCO Motorsports Toyota at Charlotte Motor Speedway after all.
Instead came news that Kimi's spent Tuesday at Virginia International Raceway, testing the Robby Gordon Motorsports #7 Sprint Cup car on the road course there.
....
Asked by a fan for lap times, the succinct answer came back: "They will not be published." However, some eyewitness accounts suggest that the nose of the #7 was rather the worse for wear after Raikkonen had run only half a dozen laps, and the team Twitter account suggested that this might be the case: "Kimi got off course & nose did what Carls did at Charlotte in grass," it reported.
