:werd:, I dont think that announcement went over to well in Merc-Mclaren land.

First, I also misspelled Colombia and Columbian, alas it was due to living in Columbia for 10 years. However, this shouldn't be seen as any sort of veiled or unveiled dig at Colombians or their country, I can't spell either the current or upcoming Fins last names without cheating but it doesn't mean I have any issues with Kimi or Heiki <sp?.

Bottom line I think you are looking far too hard for something to have an issue over and normally when a person is so sensitive about an issue someone has explained it is more likely their own problem than the purported offending persons.

Hey Steve, where's the Molson Indy pics chump?

Billiam 07-11-2006 04:15 PM

I have to admit I was kind of looking forward to seeing what form

Chip Ganassi was stupid. Team Target Ganassi was enjoying consecutive years of winning CART championship with Honda CART engines. Then in 2000, he suddenly switched to Toyota power and never regain the glorious time as with Honda, where the whole field was constantly dominated by other Honda powered teams such as Kool Green.

Chief F1 Fan 07-12-2006 05:45 AM

Edward, aren't all the teams powered by Honda nowadays? That's what I thought :dunno:

Not good for Honda marketing either.

F-C 07-12-2006 10:56 AM

That's why Honda is going to ALMS.

Yumcha 07-12-2006 12:44 PM

Just read the news of Montoya's departure from F1 to NASCAR...my reaction is still :what: and it's 5 minutes ago. :what:

Yup, because the lame Ford and money-burning Toyota finally realized that their engines are of no match to the mighty Honda's, both in CART and in Indy.

West6MT 07-12-2006 03:16 PM

Arent all the engines in Cart Ford though?

Technically, CART does not exist anymore. The company, CART, went bankrupt. It's successor is just called ChampCars, and they run Cosworth engines, badged as Ford.

I think the reason Toyota floundered in the IRL had way more to do with the inept management of their motorsports programs than the "might" of Honda. :2cents:

Is this Toyota habit also carried over to F1 racing, so even though with the biggest F1 team budget, is not getting anywhere in F1 ?

Only on the final year before CART bankrupted due to more and more teams jumped over to IRL (Indycar). Now its happening again in IRL where all engines are built by Honda. I stopped watching these series whenever there is only one engine supplier, because mulitple engine suppliers make the races exciting.

West6MT 07-12-2006 07:18 PM

Oh ok,.......shows how much I pay attention to Cart/champcar and IRL stuff hahaha. (read NONE)

Thanks for the clarification guys  .

Chief F1 Fan 07-13-2006 05:04 AM

A thought occured to me last nite: I wonder if JPM will be designated hitter for Ganassi's team when they make their annual trip to Watkins? I may just have to go watch that race then . . . :ponder:
