IRL in Long Beach no more???

I just checked the IRL Schedule and it appears that this year there isn't a race in Long Beach like they always do in April!!

Have they done away with this race all together?

Any of you guys have info about this?

Isn't it Champ Car that always has the Long Beach race?

Are any of you guys gonna go? I've never gone and I'm dead set on going this year.

The only race I've gone to is a Nascar race at California Speedway. I had pit passes and everything. Got them as a bday present. Definitely a lot of fun!

I was when I didn't see it on the IRL schedule. Thank god I was mistaken.

I just checked the SCCA's web site and it looks like you'll also get the Speed World Challenge as a support race this year. GT division only though so no Realtime.

I'm not surprised. They are all from the same family at the very beginning.

I was really surprised, as they were in the Long Beach X-Mas parade.

I can see the race from my office window, where they go around the fountain, pretty cool, but loud.

I went about 6 years ago. A client owned a high-rise on Ocean Ave along the back stretch of the circuit. They threw a big party in the penthouse and on the roof of the building. It was suite! Being able to see the entire circuit unobstructed is incredible. I don't know if it would be as fun sitting in the bleachers and seeing the cars every 45 seconds or so...and then having to watch the leaders on the screens. None-the-less it is a fun time and a great circuit.

I believed Long Beach is too bumpy for the modern F1 cars. You will see sparks flying everywhere.

LB is no worse than Monaco and F1 runs there. I've been to both. LB is still a lot of fun. The advantage of being in the stands versus the top of a building is the sense of speed. Pretty cool watching these things race by on Shoreline at 185! I like going Friday and Saturday so you can go anywhere you want. Fun seeing the cars at different corners. I've been going for 22 years.
