Future German Grands Prix

Nurburgring and Hockenheim are to alternate hosting the German Grand Prix for the next four years.

Hockenheim will stage the 2008 and 2010 races, with Nurburgring having it in 2007 and 2009.

For the last 11 years Germany has had two Grands Prix but crowds which were already falling are expected to drop further when Michael Schumacher quits.

Debt-ridden Hockenheim was favourite for the axe after the German-hosted European Grand Prix was dropped.

I wonder what the attendance at Hockenheim was before and after the "renovation."

Probably not a lot different if you think about it FC. There wasn't too much (any?) seating out in the forest anyways, it was all in the stadium section. In fact, they may have gained seats w/ renovation.

Seats doesn't equal attendance. I seem to recall that after the renovation, there appeared to be alot more empty seats in the grand stands, especially in the stadium section. Could be 1) they added too many new seats 2) even Schumacher fans got tired of seeing Schumacher winning 3) lack of interest in "renovated" track 4) competition with Nurburgring.

No Schu next year is going to spell disaster for attendance figures in Germany, maybe Spa too since that is closest to his home of Kerpen and considered his "home" GP.
