Goodbye.
well this year we've got a bunch of rainmeisters: Schumi, Kimi, Hamilton, Vettel, and if it just stays lightly misted: Button.
Although, I shudder to think of the amount of crashes due to new drivers and Maldonado......and the always reliable in the wet: Massa

And don't forget Button won Malaysia the last time it had torrential rain, in 2009 in the Brawn.

Goodbye.
He is not a true rainmeister.
Yeah that was 90% the car and luck.

He's no Senna or Schumacher but his skill in the wet is pretty good especially when the conditions are changing.

I was in Canada with West and it was far from damp. At times it looked like you could canoe on the track. Hamilton is too erratic. He needs to revert to his first year ways as he was much more reliable. Now I throw him out most of the time b/c of his inconsistency and hot head. I like the guy too, don't get me wrong.

Button's style is quite suited to the rain, how many times have we heard how smooth he is and about his ability to conserve tyres? Due to his dry style I don't think he has to change nearly as much as other drivers in the wet so the speed comes much more naturally to him in poor traction conditions.

As a rainmeister, Hamilton made a huge blunder back in 2007.
In the dry/rain-soaked 2007 Chinese GP, he entered the pit lane too fast, went off into the gravel trap, and got stuck helplessly. Result : a DNF for Hamilton.
He scored no point for this second last race of the season, and also cost him the Driver's Championship title. After the final race, he was only 1 points behind Räikkönen in the final point standing.
Had he not slid off and scored some points (2 or more) in China, he would have been crowned the title instead of Räikkönen.

Great stuff. Owned.
Watching that reminds me how ugly this year's cars are.

I'd swear there was 25th car running P1. I thougtht it was Senna.
Did Williams run P1 with 3 cars? Or 2 cars and 3 drivers?
Edit:
I think the F1 Live Timing app just had Senna on the list during P1. Not actually running laps.

Lotus has been forced to relocate itself in the Sepang paddock after a fire destroyed its hospitality unit overnight.
In the early hours of Saturday morning, a suspected electrical fault in a fridge caused a fire that eventually destroyed the team's hospitality unit and kitchen facilities.
AUTOSPORT understands that the team was able to save some of its drivers' kits - including overalls and boots - from the private rooms of Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean.
With its unit now out of action, Lotus has been forced to move itself next to Marussia at the bottom end of the Sepang paddock – although its marketing and hospitality staff have been left without any equipment.
The team's engineering operation has been unaffected, as it is based in a separate unit attached to the pit building, and the fire will not have any impact on its track efforts.

Gotta love Kimi and his sense of humor!
http://planetf1.com/driver/18227/762...eam-man-giveth
Kimi Raikkonen showed that beneath that icy facade is a sense of humour to rival most as he gifted the media ice-creams at Sepang.
The late time he raced at the Sepang circuit, Raikkonen was slated by many while earning a chuckle from others as, with the race suspended due to the heavy downpour, he headed into his Ferrari garage for a Coke and a chocolate ice-cream.
That proved to be the Finn's final season with Ferrari as his commitment to the team and the sport was called into question.
Three years later - and back in F1 - there were again ice-creams to be had in Malaysia although this time they were for the press.
With more rain and another suspended race on the horizon, the Lotus team handed out ice-creams to the media on behalf of their Finnish driver ahead of Sunday's grand prix.
The treat came with a note saying "please enjoy this ice-cream" and was insurmountable proof that Raikkonen does have a sense of humour.

Adam Parr has resigned as chairman of the Williams Formula One team.
No official reason was given for Parr's departure, which was announced in a team statement Monday.
Parr came to Williams in 2006 as chief executive officer and moved up to chairman in 2010.
Team principal Frank Williams says Parr "leaves us on good terms to pursue a better balance in his life for which I wish him and his family well."
Williams says Nick Rose, a non-executive director of Williams Grand Prix Holdings, will be appointed non-executive chairman, while Frank Williams will continue to oversee the company.

Red Bull will sit with Sebastian Vettel following reports the German deliberately ignored the team's race instructions in Malaysia.
The team was heard on the radio instructing the reigning back-to-back World Champion to retire his car, ostensibly because of dangerously high brake temperatures.
So often were the calls unheeded that Vettel's engineer Guillaume 'Rocky' Rocquelin ultimately declared it an "emergency."
A late-race retirement, with Vettel definitely out of the points following his clash with Narain Karthikeyan, would have allowed Red Bull to install a new gearbox in his car for the forthcoming event in China.
Red Bull explained that Vettel did not hear the instructions due to a broken radio.
But photographs have emerged that show those instructions were also reflected in Vettel's end-of-lap pit boards.
And the 24-year-old let slip immediately after the race: "Of course you can save the car, but I wanted to see the checkered flag.
"I think that's how it should be."
Bild newspaper surmises that Vettel "ignored his bosses' orders."
Team boss Christian Horner commented: "We'll talk about it."
The German newspaper said Vettel is due at the team's Milton Keynes headquarters at the end of this week, for time on the Red Bull driver simulator prior to Shanghai.
Italy's La Repubblica newspaper said 2012 has been "a nightmare" for Vettel so far, as the once-dominant driver "has become just one of the other drivers."

Mark Webber in his BC column said the rain affected his radio also. Both him and Vettel had no radio's after it began to rain heavy, he suspected the radio's got water in them.

Uh, oh.
Rather than fly home to Brazil as planned, Felipe Massa has headed to Ferrari's HQ at Maranello to analyse his shortcomings in the opening two grands prix of the season.
The 2012 season is believed to be a make-or-break one for Massa's Ferrari future and although Ferrari's F2012 chassis is not yet a competitive proposition, Massa's performances in Australia and Malaysia have been well below par in comparison with team mate Fernando Alonso, who won at Sepang in mixed conditions.
The news of Massa's change of plans has prompted the Italian media to speculate that the Brazilian is about to be imminently replaced, possibly by Sergio Perez, who finished a fine second for Sauber at Sepang.
Some believe that the Sauber team is financially stretched and may welcome the opportunity to reach an accommodation with Ferrari to put Perez in the car in return for some financial compensation, as Peter Sauber did a decade ago when he 'sold' Kimi Raikkonen to McLaren.
Jarno Trulli's name has also been mentioned as a possible replacement for Massa at a time when Italy is without a driver in F1 for the first time since the seventies.
Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali, meanwhile, said: "Felipe will be in Maranello to work alongside the engineers to calmly analyse everything that happened in these past two races, trying to identify why he was not able to deliver what he is capable of. That's the right spirit and we are here, ready to help him."

no, Massa was never the same and his sell-by date has come and passed. Put Massa in the Sauber/Perez in the Ferrari.
