Bourdais suggests "welcome" for Tracy

MONTREAL (CP) - Champ car leader Sebastien Bourdais of France says fans should give Paul Tracy "the welcome he deserves" at this weekend's race in Montreal for his anti-French remarks.
While he didn't encourage violence, Bourdais said Thursday that French-speaking fans should make their feelings known to the Toronto driver for insulting them.
"I think we could probably write a book with all the problems that Paul has been involved in, whether it's with me, Alex (Tagliani) or someone else," Bourdais said.
"First, if he wants to fight, he's probably picked the wrong sport and second, I just hope the Quebec people reserve (for) him the welcome he deserves because he's been insulting the French people and the Quebec people and I hope they won't forget that."
Tracy had altercations in his last two races - a brawl with Lachenaie, Que. driver Tagliani in San Jose and a shove from Bourdais after the Frenchman was bumped off the track on the final lap in Denver two weeks ago.
After the second incident, Tracy said neither opponent took his helmet off when confronting him and added: "French guys always keep their helmets on."
Tracy has kept a low profile this week in mostly French-speaking Montreal and was not at the track on Thursday. Practice begins Friday for the race on Sunday at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve.
Added Tagliani: "I totally agree with Sebastien."
And Andrew Ranger of Roxton Pond, Que., said, "same thing for me."

He obviously didn't have enough time to take it off while being confronted by the helmeted Bourdais. Its obvious IMO that those two were clearly the pussies. Both attempting to start a fight with their helmets on.
I'm not trying to defend Tracy in any way here. He's an idiot most of the time. But he's being unfairly villified here. He did not attempt to start a playground like fight on either occasion. That classless, immature behavior came from the other two drivers who were both too chicken shit to go at him without their helmets. I equate their behavior to a hockey player starting a fight and kepping his gloves on. Its only the pussies.

Also, when Bourdais came at Tracy and pushed him and whatever and turned around,.......you can see Tracy calling him on,......with a hand gesture (the "bring it on" hand movement) and he starts to try an unhook his helmet and hanse device or whatever the neck this is called. Tags and Bourdais are bitches.

As might have been expected in the wake of his recent contretemps with Alex Tagliani and Sebastien Bourdais, Paul Tracy got a hostile reception from the crowd at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve today. His arrival in pit lane for the morning practice generated jeers and catcalls from the encouragingly full bleachers across the way, a scenario repeated near the end of the session when he spun to a stop in the Senna Esse (aka Turns One and Two).
Not only was Tracy was unfazed by his reception in French Canada, he relished it . . . saluting the fans with a wave on his “out” lap in practice and later chortling over the whole thing.
“I wouldn’t have lasted 16 years in this business if something like that rattled me,” he said. “The one thing that does kind of piss me off is that I read where Bourdais said that I’m involved in 40 or 50% of the accidents in Champ Car. I don’t know where he got those numbers. It’s more like 70%."
