2017 Formula One Fantasy League
Rules for the 2017 Acurazine Formula One Fantasy League:
Rules:
1. For each race weekend, you must post one Driver and one Team as your picks for the event. The Driver you pick does not have to be from the Team that you also pick for the event. Selection for each race must be posted in the event’s thread prior to qualifying. "Prior to qualifying" means the official start of qualifying posted by the FIA in the calendar prior to the race weekend. This deadline will not shift in the event of delays caused during the race weekend, such as weather related delays.
2. You can only choose the same driver 3 times for the entire season. You can only choose the same team 4 times for the entire season.
3. Points calculation will be as follows: Drivers picked for the event will receive points as classified by the FIA after the race results are confirmed. Teams picked for the event will receive 1/2 points as classified by the FIA after the race results are confirmed.
3.a In the event that the race finishes prematurely and the FIA issues 1/2 points, we will still award full points for the purpose of this competition.
3.b If no points are issued by the FIA for a race, we will not award points as well. In which case, the competitors’ picks for that race will not count toward the three pick limit for drivers, and four pick limit for constructors.
3.c In the event that the FIA makes post race penalties, the statue of limitations is 2 weeks from the end of the event or prior to the start of practice of the subsequent race, whichever comes first.
4. Whoever has the highest points total at the end of the season will be declared the Acurazine Formula 1 Fantasy League Champion. Winning the championship has no value, and will not improve your Points, Reputation score, or bank account. Disputes to the game are not subject to arbitration or mediation.
-------------------------------------------------------
Also if everyone that participates sends me there email address, I will send out an email to everyone before each race weekend as a reminder so we have fewer instances of forgetting to make picks. If you sent me your email address last year, then there is no need to resend them to me.
Goodluck to all participants!

I was just looking ahead in my calendar and saw that Australia was next week... The break snuck up fast on me.
I'm in to hold down the bottom end of the league with bad pick timing and missed races!

I cant wait either. I really hope Merc wasnt sandbagging and the others have caught up to really make the season better to watch. Also interested to see how the lap times improve and what if any lap records get broken

What about modifying the pick rule to allow a driver to be picked 4 times?

So when and where do we pick our driver and team for race #1? I can imagine a seperate thread for each race? I got my entire season mapped out per driver and team for each race . I reckon i will prolly finish dead last hahaa! I love f1 so much! There is nothing better than a early sunday morning race with breakfast!

Did we talk about that? Haha, don't remember.
I guess there are pros-cons to this, but we can vote on it.
Pros:
Typically, people run out of picks that can provide real points by the last quarter of the season. Changing the driver limit to 4 should increase the points haul.
Cons:
This makes the game less strategic since you have more good drivers to pick. No one will pick Sainz again???
This makes missing a race less damaging, because you can catch up easier when people run out of good picks. But I guess this can be considered a pro for people that never miss a race.
Submit your votes by this Thursday. Majority wins! A tie means we stay at 3 picks.

I vote, stay at 3 driver picks / 4 team picks.

I would always like to have the driver/team of choice available to choose from lol, but i dont mind either way, 3/3 always makes things more interesting by mid season as those start to run out of their first/second choices and have to start to get creative with pics. Hopefully this season other teams have caught up to make picking more interesting.

We haven't done season picks in forever.

So, since the season is underway, I'm guessing we're sticking with 3 d / 4 c picks?

I'm going on vacation for awhile, so don't expect any updates to the standings until after Bahrain as I'm not bringing my laptop with me.

fsttyms1 leads early into the season.
Meanwhile, stangg and icy2.

It's neck and neck between fsttyms1 and Chief. Dougler has a dramatic fall from third after a DNS due to a late entry in Bahrain.

We are now a fifth of the way into the season. No changes at the top of the table this round.

Is this the year that fsttyms1 takes home the championship trophy? After winning his fourth out of the first five races, he certainly looks like the favorite.

fsttyms1 is slowly inching ahead of the pack. Is there anyone that will step up and tighten the race?

I just went back and checked the last 4 years. No one has had a lead this big after 6 races.

I'm running out of solid picks and will soon have to give some consideration to the mid-pack teams and drivers. Have a feeling that others will be catching-up in coming months....

A huge leap by Chief to close in on the fsttyms. Has a challenger finally emerged?
