2009 Formula Fantasy pool recommendations!!!!

Now that the season is wrapped up, what Improvements/changes would everyone like to see/make to the format of how the pool works?

I think the main change that is wanted is to decrease the points awarded for correctly picking the Champion driver/constructor 25 for each seems way too high, so I'll post a poll to see what we think each should be worth.

I was also thinking that making an email group for our participants, so that on the Thursday before a race weekend a quick reminder email can be sent out so we have greater participation.

What about maybe adding an extra point award if you select a driver that wins pole position?

Also what about the maximum of 3 picks/driver victory? Do we want to maintain the status quo (can only pick a driver until he has 3 wins for you) or maybe change it so that you can only pick a driver 3 or 4 times PERIOD?
post up what you guys think would make this better/fairer league.

I think the bonus for picking the driver and constructor should be either 5 or 10 points each. 25 is definitely too much, as we had people who didn't participate a lot this season get huge bonuses for getting their pre-season picks right.

4 picks for a driver period sounds pretty good, as it would require some strategic picks through the season, and not just over-reliance on the three or four big names.

I think there should be an extra point for winning pole, maybe even an extra point for fastest lap. But is that too much work to keep track of?

There should be a limit of picking the same driver up to 3 times a year, regardless of wins. This way, it would force people to pick the lessor drivers and make the picks more strategic.

And just to make it more interesting, not only should we pick just the driver each race, but also the team.

Example:
Australia 2009 - I pick Hamilton as my driver, and I pick BMW as the team. Hamilton finishes 1st(10pts), Kubica finishes 2nd(8pts), and Heidfeld finishes 3rd(6pts). The total point for me on the race would be

Driver (10pts) + Team [(8pts+6pts)/2] = Total 17pts

In this scenario, you get to pick each driver 3 times per year and each team 2 times per year.

Picking a Season Champion (Driver or Manufacturer) should be worth at least as much as a *single* race win.

A point for fastest lap/pole is not hard to keep track of. I'm not sure what I think about picking a team though.

I think there should be points for Pole and Fastest lap. I dont like the 3 driver pick, but am willing to live with it. Maybe have a few points offered for a preseason Driver/Manufacturer guess on who will take the championship?

I also think we need a thread where members picks (ie how many times for each driver) should be kept. (id be willing to update it weekly)

I agree, the way I was keeping track was rather rudimentary, but it did it's job.

I think that 10 pts each would be good. I orginally thought that the rules stated you could only pick a driver three times total. That would make for some interesting as you make some picks later in the year or riding hot driver trends like SV or FA. Maybe 3 is too few, 4 might be better. Anyway in spite of Bernie, Max and their silly rules it was an interesting season.

Yes, 10 points each.

The idea for each driver 4 times instead of 3 sounds good too, but I'm OK either way.

1 Bonus Point if your driver pick for the race gets Pole.

1 Bonus Point if your driver pick for the race sets Fast Lap.
