Amazon-backed EV start-up Rivian set to go public at $106.6 billion implied valuation
Nov 10 2021
Rivian Automotive will make its market debut Wednesday, in what’s expected to be one of the biggest IPOs of the year.
The electric vehicle maker’s stock is indicated to open at $125 a share, implying a valuation of as much as $106.6 billion and a 60% pop from its IPO price of $78 a share.
On Tuesday, Rivian priced its shares at $78, above the expected range, to raise about $11.9 billion. That share price gives Rivian a valuation of $66.5 billion, making it slightly less valuable than traditional automotive giants like GM and Ford.

$115 open is almost certainly going to drop off by end of day. Rivian has a lot of upside but other than the name and hype behind it, they have a lot yet to prove.

My guess is it hits $200 by EOW.

Probably. $115 is definitely more than I'd spend and IMO overvalues the company. But in this crazy market, people are willing to pay up for what they think is a good company.

Wow. That's some bad info. The share allocation from IPO is done. The shares hit my account some time early this morning before I got up at 6 AM.

people thought the same about paying $100 for Tesla. It’s all a rush but I think Rivian is a safe bet. I’d have loved to have gotten in at $78. But I’d do $115. I’ll just get less shares.

I'll buy in as soon as I'm able to. In the long run I probably won't lose any money anyway.
Schwab isn't even giving me a bid/ask price yet.

Set a buy order for $95 and another for $85 to cover myself. We'll see what happens later today and tomorrow. With my luck this thing will go through the fucking roof tomorrow.

Ugh, I should have bought in all the way on Wednesday. Just invested the rest of what I planned on putting in at $25/share more than back then. Oh well, hindsight is what it is.
#58
Got 175 shares @ $78 from the directed share program for reservation holders, and another 650 shares at @ $78 from the initial offer through Sofi. At this rate the truck might pay for itself by the middle of next week.

^ That is amazing. We use Schwab so there was no chance for getting at the IPO for us. I also didn't buy nearly that many shares...
#60
I signed up for a Sofi account specifically because they were offering IPO shares to retail investors. I think E-Trade was the only other brokerage to offer shares to retail investors. In any case, I had asked for 3000 shares, and they gave me 650. In hindsight maybe I should have asked for 10,000 shares.

I actually saw an RT1 on Centinela Ave and Venice Blvd tonight. I was turning on Venice and they were turning on to centinela. No Camo.

LOL it actually happened (not counting STCG taxes). Maybe by next week it’ll pay for the truck even after factoring in the taxes.

Lots of call buying in both RIVN and LCID today.
They're trying to get RIVN over $185 (to $200?) and LCID over $65 by end of week.

Rising tide lifts all boats. Given the momentum of Rivian and MT giving the Lucid Air the 2022 COTY award, investor sentiment should continue to be strong, fundamentals be damned.
#74
As of 10/29/21, 10.25% of LCID is being shorted. Percentage could be higher now since stock is up 50.01% since then.
LCID short squeeze?
Wish I bought more. My LCID cost basis is $26.00

RIVN down 17% so far. If you want to buy in, the time might be quickly approaching.
I might toss in a few hundo to LCID but I'm not pushing a bunch in just yet.
