How many deductions do you claim? If you claimed zero, paying at the end of the year is not uncommon. Especially if you are a dependant.

Become independent, and then recalculate.

i think if you make >15k, you have to report and pay regardless of your dependency status.

Just don't pay taxes. Then you can get nominated for a cabinet level position.

so i have to bite the bullet. and what do you mean by claiming 0 deductions? would i have to change my I9?

The deductions you claimed on your W4 form

I had my other post backwards.....If you claim 0--they take more out of your check and you get a bigger refund.

Make less money if you want to pay less taxes.

You have to pay taxes either way. Whether you pay it out of your check or the end of the year. I am a college co-op and make a pretty decent check. I claim 0 on my W4, and they take a chunk out of my check, but I always get some back. Either way you gotta pay.

You need to run the deduction worksheet to figure out how much $$$ they need to take out. Since you cannot claim yourself and probably have no other deductions, you're gonna get hit hard if you don't have money taken out each paycheck.
