Iraqi Dinars speculation?

Any educated opinions on buying Dinars? (yes I know it's pure speculation).

What's the likelihood they'll (new Iraqi gov't) keep the same (new) dinar?

Will it be pegged to something (oil, dollar, euro) or float?

I know very little about currency speculation.. and I'd usually not be interested in it, but I feel this situation might be worth looking into more. The major downside would be inflation..

Buy Dinars only as curios or wallpaper. The Iraqi government has as much chance of survival as I have of being the next president of Cuba.

but whatever gov't ends up in charge, what's teh likelihood they'll keep the currency?

In the shorter term I think the gov't will work. Although mid-longer term it'll probably go the way of iran or something. That's how it was [more democratic] before saddam killed his political rivals.

This would be an extremely short term investment. Getting into a new currency is very risky and with the current situation over there it is probably an investment I would pass since i am not that risk averse.

For those of you that do invest hopefully this is not a repeat of the Yen a couple of years ago!!!
