Housing market in San Antonio, TX

Anyone familiar with it? How is it? Investment opportunities?

I am looking into some properties there, very well priced.

I am not too schooled on real-estate...but I know you can find your dream home in San Antonio dirt cheap. For example...we recruited a physician who came from the east coast. He budgeted to spend the same amount from where he came from and expected to get a modest home. He ended up in the Dominian which is where all the Spurs and a few celebrities live.

What area are you looking at?

There are tons of areas. KB Homes development has a property that is 2k sq ft, 4 2.5 2 car garage for 120K brand new. SW part of San Antonio, development called Siena Park. This sounds very cheap to me. I am not looking to move, looking to invest.

My sister couldn't give her house away in the NE. It seem that they are building all over that city. I am also no expert but I don't see you making that much money when it's time to sell. I would put my money into southern Maryland.

There are a lot of construction. Prices expected to rise 8% per year. Toyota is building a plant there as well.

I personally would not ever live in any parts of the South, East or West side of San Antonio. Heck, even the NW is pretty trashy in some areas. Either way...good luck!

I remember seeing a housing analysis of all US states and Texas was one of the few states where housing is considered "undervalued"

On the other hand, isnt that where every episode of COPS is filmed.

Fortune mag list SA as the #1 city in the US for projected housing price change in 06(8.3%).

Houses are cheap there but they will probably remain cheap for a while. Are you investing to flip the house for a profit or to rent and have someone pay up your equity?
