Excel amortization template
Excel amortization template
Anybody have or know where to get a good loan amortization template/table excel? I have one now, but it's not user friendly. Only one thing can be changed and that's extra payments. You can't even highlight the other figures for totals and what not. Anybody have anything that's fully editable?

Just put your variables in a column and link your own formula(s) to them.
a1 is for PV
a2 is periodic pmt
a3 is number of periods
a4 is interest rate
a5 is future value
a6 is ordinary/annuity due indicator
Then you can make formulas to solve for any variable you want using the wizard if you don't know them:
=FV(A4,A3,A2,A1,A6)
=PV(A4,A3,A2,A5,A6)
=NPER(A4,A2,A1,A5,A6)
=RATE(A3,A2,A1,A5,A6)
=PMT(A4,A3,A1,A5,A6)
Can also add an a7 for period number then add in IPMT and PPMT (portion of a particular payment that is interest or priniple)
=IPMT(A4,A7,A3,A1,A5,A6)
=PPMT(A4,A7,A3,A1,A5,A6)

Well, what i typed out works...I can email you a spreadsheet if it isn' working for you.
I've spent tens and tens of hours in Excel over the years, so whipping up a PMT/FV spreadsheet takes me about as much time as typing this reply,

Who'd think that I might actually use what I learned in college.
