citibank dividend platinum select card....who has it?

For the people who don't have it, get it.
Its got a 5% cash back on gas/supermarket/drugstores. Everything else its 1%.

For the people who have it. Call them up, ask for the creditprotector program.
They will send you a 15 dollar check to just enroll in it, its free for the first month, if you don't like it, cancel it, no harm done.

But, if you would like to get more free money, then they will send you 50 dollars worth of rebates to stay in the program. You use 1 rebate every month and you get a 10 dollar check. You get 5 total rebates.

For me, I only use the card for gas, so my monthly balance is around 150 - 250.
So after the free month was over, I stayed with creditprotector and every month I get charged around 83 cents, which is a very small percentage of your balance, as the fee for the program.

So I pay them less than a dollar a month, and they pay me 10 dollars a month.

Thats for the next 5 months. After that, I am free to cancel it.

Oh, and read up on the program, it does have some benefits too.

Also this credit card has a huge merchant network. Check it out.

I'd been using my Credit Union Gold Card until I decided that I needed some perks out of my card. And the Citibank Dividend Platinum Card was perfect for me since I put alot of my money into Gas each month and I usually go to a Drug Store or the Supermarket for other stuff. Definitely a great card so far!

From their terms and conditions:

https://www.accountonline.com/ACQ/Di...WNSELL_LEVEL=0

Purchases not eligible to receive the 5% rebate include, but are not limited to, purchases made at warehouse clubs, discount stores, department stores and convenience stores. In addition, online, catalog, mail order and telephone purchases are not eligible to receive a 5% rebate unless the merchants identify the transactions as being made at a supermarket, drugstore or gas station. We do not determine whether merchants correctly identify and bill transactions as being made at a supermarket, drug store or gas station. However, we do reserve the right to determine which purchases qualify for the 5% rebate.

As soon as you've earned 50 Dividend Dollars or more, call us at 1–866–676–4672 or visit www.citicards.com so that we may send you a check for the total accumulated Dividend Dollar amount shown on your monthly billing statement. We cannot issue you a check unless you contact us. Checks cannot be issued for amounts less than $50 unless you've already received checks totaling more than $250. Cardmembers must be registered for Account Online in order to request a check at www.citicards.com.
You can ask for a check only if your cashback balance goes over $50, and up to $300 per year.

So, if you only use it in supermarkets (5%), you will need to spend $1,000 in order to ask for a $50 check.

If you use it only in anything else (1%), you will need to spend $5,000 to get the damn check.

And this is assuming that you pay your balance in full, if not, the cash back will be worth less if you have finance charges, fees, fees for fees, etc.

Every credit card charges interested, finance charges, fees, etc. It's still the best credit card deal going.

I have it; my only beef is that I don't have much time once they send my bill to make a payment. My Discover card, which currently gives me .25% cash back, yes, point two five percent, gives me longer to pay, but I get much less cash back. Guess it's a tradeoff. But if you pay your balance in its entirety on time, it's a really good deal.

Card charges fees unless you avoid them.

In order for you to have the cash back worth every dollar, you will need to have a $0 fee in total for your card.

For instance, paying it in full, and then the cash back is very well worth.

If not, imagine that you just spent $5,000 in order to get a check for $50, but you have not realized that if not paid in full by the next month, they will charge a at least $60 in finance charges.

So where is the benefit?

I do pay in full, and get my cash back at the end of each month statements on my Chase Perfect Card. I will consider that a Negative Interest. Very well worth IMO.

I love the card. I drive 80 miles a day and sometimes up to 160 miles a day so I buy a lot of gas. The 5% cash back is better than nothing.

I always pay my credit card in full the first day my montly statement comes out, so I dont need to deal with any additional fees.

You can also get your picture on the corner of the card for free, that way you dont need to pull out your drivers license anytime someone asks for photo id.

With regards to cash back, I think of it as an incentive. I think its ridiculous that people spend X amount of dollars more than they normally would just to get the 1-5% cashback.

5% cash back sounds promising. Waiting till the rebate balances reaches $50 ($1000 in gas expenses), is not.

I still think Chase Perfectcard is a best bet, with rebates applied as a credit at the end of the billing cycle. 3%, but its applied right after

Just got my August statement, with $33 in "negative interest".

$300 max rebate per year means I need to spend about $500/mo. on gas and groceries so I won't get "there" but, still, 5% discount isn't bad, especially with 91 octane hitting $3.00/gal. That's the equivelant of paying .15 cents per gallon less.
