Perhaps, but if you owned a store that sold motorcycles that can run >30K a pop, wouldn't you do the same thing if that guy walked in?

I don't know how many Amex Black cardholders shop at Walmart.

The card is not plastic, made of titanium or something so it looks nicer
Free upgrades at any hotel, lounge, air-port, etc.
Easy access to tables at busy restaurants, etc due to the prestige of the card.
Concierges service to help you.
Gifts are handed out time to time.
Also something you can rap about in songs

As far as the Visa one, it's sort of a knock off of the amex one, but without all the prestige, perks, upgrades and easy access to things.
wrong

its 250k min per year.

But first you have to be an existing AmEx Platinum card holder and have to demonstrate a $250,000 annual spending rate. I would assume for at least a few years.

Maybe, but it still seems silly. I've spent some time working at a local restaurant and four or five people who eat their regularly pay with their black amex. They would be laughed at if they wanted to clear the restaurant out to eat alone, but none of them are that much of a douche bag to begin with.

not true. my dad was a gold card member for a long time and spent around 100k per year. he called up and asked about it, he qualified for the centurion but turned it down cause of the fees. im sure they have something that says if u dont spend 250k ull be in debt forever lol

I would be willing to bet that if Bill Clinton walked into said local resturant and said "I am willing to pay your entire nights worth of profit to eat alone, so don't let anyone else in", they would honor that request. There may be some places that wouldn't, but most places will make specal exemptions for celebraties.

the amex black cards are made in both titanium and plastic. i think the older cards are plastic and the newer ones are titanium. it also depends on what country you're in.

Ehh, maybe. Of course they would give him the restaurant if he planned in advance, but honestly, kicking everyone out for a night so he could eat isn't worth dealing with the shit storm that will come from all the regulars, etc. not being able to eat there that night, which in the long run is worth way the fuck more.

They only started to offer the Centurion card in titanium in the last few years, so there are likely people with the old card still in their wallet. Also the Centurion cards issued in foreign countries still have a plastic card too.

And the Visa Black card is actually made from carbon graphite.

I was just joking that the card itself doesn't have any value. It's the person's credit that gives it value.

Its a debit Visa.

Note, I obviously have a "Guvment" credit card for business but my debit card is more than enough for personal use.

A lot of rental places won't take even a debit visa. I have no idea why but I went to two places with a buddy of mine who only has a debit visa and they didn't give a shit, they wanted a major card backing it up. Kind of silly if you ask me

Weird, I've never had a problem. If anything, the debit Visa should say "I actually HAVE money and don't need to borrow it"

I know. At first I thought it was just some fly by night rental company, but Hertz and Enterprise both required more. It might have just been because my friend didn't speak great english, but he certainly had the cash in his account to cover the rental and any associated liability. Just one of those things I guess.

I had one for a few years through Navy Federal but barely used it. Always paid off at the end of the month

I actually don't have much of a credit history, I got a home loan through Navy Federal and recently paid it off. I'm a homeowner at 31. I used all my bonus money over the years and put it into the house.

Now all my spare cash gets thrown into energy stocks with dividends and a few municipal bonds.

I've been tempted to get a cashback card from Fidelity, a few of my relatives swear by them.

I use the Amex Blue Cash card. About $50 a year, but I get hundreds back as cash back, so it pays for itself.

I kind of wish I would've gotten that one.
I have a Blue Sky & Hilton AMEX. Hilton one is . Blue Sky is alright, but the cash back would've been cool.

Oh well. I already have enough points to get a few hundred off travel expenses...so maybe a cruise or somethin after graduation next year shall be in order.

Looks like Amex dropped the anual fee for the Blue Cash card. Benefits are NOT the same.

Clear gets:

Get a $25 American Express® shopping card for every eligible $2,500 you spend on your Card †

Blue Cash gets:

Earn up to 5% cash back at supermarkets, gas stations and drugstores, plus up to 1.25% cash back for all other eligible purchases †

I recommend you start a new thread, lots of smart people who know different methods of making money.

Its all about what YOU are comfortable with and how accessible you want this money to be at a given point.

If it were me at 20, I'd buy foreign oil stocks with monthly dividends.
