Louisville Area Mechanic

Can anyone in the Louisville/Kentuckiana area recommend a mechanic? I bought an '06 TL MT a couple of weeks ago.

What does it need done? There are a lot of good DIY on here so I recommend looking at those.

Also....what can you tell me about the Louisville area? It looks like I am moving there next year and I am looking for a nice suburb with a good school district for the little man.

Mostly I just want one on hand if something goes wrong, but also to do the timing belt/water pump. The dealer wants $1,300... yea, not going to happen.

My daughter is only 18 months, so I haven't done too much planning regarding schools yet. In general, people tell me that schools in southern Indiana are better. Indiana also has much cheaper car insurance, 0% state income tax, lower property taxes, lower vehicle taxes, etc., etc..

We used to live in Louisville and it was okay, but the grass is greener on the other side of the river. My commute is 5 min longer, but the lower taxes and insurance more than offset the time and gas.

Well, $1,300 is a typical quote from an Acura dealer for the 105k service. indy shops and Honda dealers will be cheaper, and of course DIY is the cheapest. Also check the regional section of the board.

I'll check a local Honda dealer. An indy shop with a good reputation in the area is what I'm looking for. The timing belt and water pump are a little beyond my ability.

I had one indy shop quote me at $700, which is really cheap compared to $1,300. But, I really don't know if I should trust them top do the work.
