Looking for a place to install PCD
Looking for a place to install PCD
Anyone know of a place in MI, metro detroit area that will install PCD and knows how to work on 3G's?
I don't live in a place where I can do it myself. =(

Why not try the regionals or craigslist? If you're not a member on bimmerforums.com you should sign up, if only for the regionals sections. They usually get responded to fairly quickly. This is something that isn't vehicle specific of an install really so it wouldn't hurt to ask over there.
This is the best option if you cant do it. Lucky I live in a very redneck state and these are easy to come by.

most shops around here (and most places) will not touch your cats.
everyone i know has done this install themselves. its not THAT bad of install. i'd say difficulty 6.5/10. front cat is super easy to remove, rear one is a bit harder.

Well yeah but which state doesn't have emissions? Here in FL we have no inspections but it's still illegal to touch it.
When I had my Stage 3 done the guy almost turned me down because he thought I was talking about removing the cats. I had to point out what I wanted done.

I don't think it's legal in any state in the US, as well as most developed parts of the world.
It's just a question of if anyone would ever notice, or if you care. There's no emissions check in NY, as long as the easy to trick computer is happy, NYS is as well. It's just a 'visual inspection' of the exhaust, which rarely even occurs. However, it's very obvious by the vehicles smell when you have no catalytic converters and I know of people who got massive fines for having removed them. Supposedly they fine you for each cat removed.
That said, I removed the only cat on my Accord and drove around for years without issues. Passed 3 annual NYS inspections no problem.

The problem with this logic is if you cross State lines into a State like, say, California and get stopped by a CHiPpie you can get a fix-it-ticket that will make your head spin. If you think I'm wrong consider what would happen if you drove a dragster down a public road in another State...
Back when I lived in FL i never had any car that had its cats on it. I never had any real issues when I took them out of state either. I seriously doubt that many cops are going to pull you over with the sole purpose of getting underneath your car and looking to see if your cats are still in place.
