WV June Flood--1998 CL 3.0 Drowned

I'm Lisa. My sweet lil 1998 Acura CL 3.0, with 155k miles, was completely submerged for several hours in the June 23rd floods in Central West Virginia. We had moved her to higher ground, when we saw how quickly waters were rising! Had to have her towed back into a foot of mud & crap (literally!) in our driveway.

I can only imagine that its worthless. However, some folks have told me it can be saved; others say sell as scrap; most say sell (give?) to a junk/salvage yard for parts.

We lost everything in this flood, though were fortunate in that no one was harmed (although a bit traumatized!), including our animals.

I lost my job 3 months ago. I let my liability lapse. FEMA has denied any coverage as a result. Registration & inspection were current, with a clear title.

Any ideas on where or how I might find a little cash for my loss? I'm not expecting much.

I did have a young ma stop by today, interested in purchasing her as a restoration project for his dad & him! He knows a quality product! He wants to speak to his dad & research
what might be a reasonable price, then call me.

Based on KBB options, it's quite sad. I didn't even note the 'flooded' issue! I had no idea what price to tell this kid when he asked! I think I may have overshot the mark, when I said $2000! Then with all my negotiating savvy, told him he could have it for $1500. Again, way off the mark...

Any idea which path I should take 2 get some/any $$ for her?? Needing
another vehicle badly! We're on the country - 20+ miles to civilization in any direction! Transportation is a must.

The kicker to all this - my birthday was June 23! Didn't even remember until that evening, after getting to a church shelter atop the mountain - after being rescued by firemen in a motor boat in neck deep water! I stilled thanked God, altho told him easy on any more gifts! The gifts have been many since that day. We are truly blessed for the outpouring of assistance & donations...

Let me hear from you?! Many thanks on advance! (Sorry for the lengthy story...)

any car can be saved. it all depends on how much work one wants to put into it. unfortunately, a flood car requires more time and effort than most, think engine, trans, all electrical components and wiring, complete interrior, etc. my best thought is if you have an interested buyer, ask him or her for a best offer and take whatever you can get. considering that one can buy a running 1g cl on craigslist for $500.00 a car with flood history would not be worth much. good luck and sorry about your loss
