I wanna get a tint on my 04 silver TL before i install my door visors. The law is 50% front side windows, 35% rear side windows and back window. I think getting one window darker then the other looks bad and i want them all the same tint but getting 50% percent isn't even worth the $200-$300 to get it... So i was wondering if cops would care if i got say 40% or 45% all around? Also could you please tell me what percent tint you have any if you have ever had any problems with it thanks.

 

from my few experiences with virginia law enforcement, they will care. i appeared in court for a speeding ticket there, and there had to be easily about 100 tinted window offenses of people appearing in court. if you dont have a medical exemption from a doctor, dont bother, or just go legal limit.

Where do you have 15% and how long have you had it? Also have any cops seen you with it?

 

i go to school in richmond, so my car is there most of the time ... the only time i got hassled was for no front plate ... and the richmond police just warned me about my tint ... i love RICHMOND COPS ... i c fairfax as ur location ... that is a different story ... i dont take my car out when im home

I had illegal tint on every one of the cars I owned in VA and I never had problems with the cops. I also don't drive like an asshole or look like a thug, so that probably has a lot to do with it. A lot of it is just giving cops a reason to profile you. With that being said, I did get an illegal tint ticket after I got pulled over for speeding because VA state troopers are dicks, but I got that one thrown out in court

I never had any problems with inspections either, but I always got my car inspected by friends who ran a shop so that worked out well.

 

What % tint did you have?

 

It really does depend on the cops in your area. I live in Fairfax/Springfield and I have 35% all around. So far so good (knock on wood) but I'm careful when around cops and try not to draw attention to myself. Anything illegal is just you taking a risk so it's really on you whether you think it's worth it or not. I love having the tint at what it is now and think it is worth the look/use of it over not having it. I got mine done out in Chantilly at a shop called Contour Tinting. Nice shop, quick work and nicely done. Lifetime warranty and everything. If you get stopped for speeding or something then definitely expect the possibility of getting a ticket for illegal tint as it's just something more they can get you with.

I get tint done for $125 (good tint) let me know if you need the same discount

 

I live in Chesapeake and I have 20% tint all around and got 6 tickets. I just got another ticket last friday in Va beach. Va beach cops will ALWAYS pull you for tints. I would get 35% all around and you should be fine.

I got charged about $185 for lifetime warranty against scratches, bubbles and discoloration. They do illegal tint but will deny ever doing it if you get caught lol. Middle pic is with the windows partially down so you get a feel for it. The time of days vary. I didn't get moleskin afaik but if I needed it they said they would put it in to cover it for free.

My b for the late reply. Rarely on here and I went to Cancun for a week. I got my tint done out in Chantilly off of Willard Rd at a place called Contour Tinting. Nice shop and good ppl. It's pretty much a drive in and first come first serve place. Near other shops so you can get some food and they have a waiting area you can chill in and read some mags while they work.

 

I got %20 all around except for the front windshield & back one .
Just got it on tuesday , driven by plenty of cops , so far so good im ticketless.

 

Im running 50% in the front and 35% in the rear.

I had 18% all around on my old Prelude and got two tickets. It wasnt worth the hassle, but it definately depends on the cop.

 

I went up there again to the Tint Shoppe On route 1 , and had my boy slap on %20 on the back windshield , didn't look right to me when it was tintless in the back . Looks amazing now ! I'll post up a pick in a little .

 

My TL has 35% [got it done in MD] all around and my husband has 45% all around. We haven't been hassled yet for the tints. We drive all around fairfax and live in chantilly.
