+1 and i also hear the speed enforcement is really bad at skyline. i would hate to only be going 35 mph with all u guys. i mean comon even at the jukebox diner meet everyone did no less than 80mph.

 

Stopping in to update:

Since my last post it seems that the majority would like to drive Blue Ridge parkway (BRP). So with that being said it is decided that BRP will be the next cruise/meet-up. I would ask that anyone with prior knowledge of BRP please layout a cruise path for us. I am not familiar with the area and think its better if someone with knowledge of the area could plan the driving portion or at least give tips on area stopping points and sightseeing attractions.

For the decision on the date of 16th or 17th:
After thinking it over it might be wise to do this on Saturday the 16th. This would allow those that travel from a far to spend the night in a hotel and then head back on Sunday rather than trying to get home Saturday night.

So for those that will be traveling a great distance we need to figure out which direction we would like to travel. I would recommend starting in Roanoke and ending at 64. This would be a good center point for traveling in any direction.

For those needing a hotel there are many to choose from and after calling around to a few in Roanoke and Charlottesville in order to get a group rate at that time of year we would need to have 10 or more rooms and even then the room rates are around $50-$80 dollars a night. So unless we can hammer down 10 rooms I think it best to just arrange on your own. I have seen some really good deals on one of the many travel websites. Also there are many camp grounds in the area that for 20 bucks you can camp for the night.

I think it would be best to stay near Roanoke and then drive the BRP to 64 from Roanoke.

BRP stands For Blue Ridhge Parkway and stretches from I-64 in VA to 441 near Cherokee North Carolina. we are thinking of driving BRP from Roanoke to I-64. Depending on Traffic and stops this would take 2-3hrs give or take and thus being a nice cruise in the fall.

Yes it has been decided that BRP will be the site for the cruise. I am working out a route and details trying to get everything squared away to make this trip as easy as possible. I will update everyone in a few days to the trip route and possible hotel locations.

Blue Ridge parkway in Roanoke? Count me out, not down for a 4 hour drive.

 

No, that two years ago blew and everyone was talking alot of shit because everyone complained on how much Skyline sucked and what a waste of time it was.

This way we know ahead of time who's bailing. The group that rolled with us last time can vouch.

We normally have one meet spot in Manassas for about an hour. Those who don't want to drive like I said...can split to go to Skyline and the rest to Blueridge.

okay so I have been trying to work out the cruise route and am having difficulty finding good stopping points on the BRP. Most of the places I have found are either to small for a big number of cars or require getting off the BRP. Has anyone on here actually been to the BRP recently and could help with route planning? I am trying to use google maps and my memory from 3 years ago. As of right now I am looking at making the meet-up spot BB&T 1920 East Washington Avenue Vinton, VA 24179-4621 located about 2 miles from BRP in Vinton Va. This is in a big shopping center and has a light to make it easier to make a left onto East Washington Avenue. From there it is looking like just a simple cruise to I-64. Once we reach I-64 we could go to dinner or everyone could just go there seperate ways. But for now that is the plan.
