3-2-1 Go!

Hello All,

Some good friends of mine has a baby girl that has Down Syndrome. The last couple years we have been doing this walk in support of awareness for Down Syndrome. My family will be doing it again. We walk for Phoebe's Friends.

I thought it would be cool to set up a Azine group for this year's walk.

This year's walk will be held on May 11th at Manor Church in Mountville.

It would be a really cool spot for a meet and May is a damn fine month to be outside.

The details are below.

Celebrate Down Syndrome is excited to announce our 2013 3-2-1 Go! Buddy Walk to promote awareness and acceptance of all people with Down syndrome (Ds). We appreciate all past support and dedication to our mission of promoting awareness and inclusion for children and adults with Ds. Because of supporters like you, we can continue to provide important information and establish rewarding programs for individuals with Ds and their families.

This year we will be hosting our 10th Walk on Saturday, May 11th, 2013 at 11am at the Manor Church in Mountville. There will be activities for all ages from 10am - 2pm. The funds we raise stay right here in Lancaster County supporting programs and services of the local group Celebrate Down Syndrome, Inc.

The Buddy Walk® was created by the National Down Syndrome Society in 1995 to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October and to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome. The Buddy Walk has grown from 17 walks in 1995 to nearly 300 walks planned for 2012 worldwide. In 2012, more than $11.2 million was raised nationwide to benefit local programs and services, as well as the national advocacy initiatives of NDSS that benefit all individuals with Down syndrome.

The funds from the 2012 3-2-1 Go! Buddy Walk helped to kick off the first ever Educator's Conference for Down syndrome in Lancaster County. We plan to use the funds from the 2013 walk to kick off our First Call Program, which works with the people in the medical field to deliver accurate and up to date information on Down syndrome to families with a new diagnosis. We will also use the funds to continue and expand the educator's conferences as well as continue to offer social and emotional support to families with Down syndrome in the Lancaster area.

The cost is $10 (no T-shirt), $12 (with T-shirt), and free for indivuals with Down syndrome.
You can register for the walk online at http://www.ezeventsolutions.com/fr/C...TEDS/321GO2013.

Phoebe's Friends is already setup as a team or you create your own team! Just make sure to let me know you've created a team if you do this because credit for the money raised will still go towards Phoebe's Friends for the overall money raised. We give out trophies for the top 3 community teams.

Come on....someone has to be up for this.

Maybe I'll sweeten the deal and do burgers and dogs at my house afterwards.
