08 328xi - Lease for $429/mo or Buy for $30k Loc: Madison WI and Chicago (Glenview)

Just throwing it out there... I'm purchasing an 06 330xi in a few weeks so I need to make the swap. This car is so much fun to drive and very capable in the winter months with the AWD system and traction/stability control. At $429/mo its a steal for anyone looking to jump into a fairly new BMW at a small price.

1. Price: Buyout is $30k or Lease for $429/mo w NO Down Pmt (just $500 fee to BMW for swapping it)
2. Mileage: just under 17,250 but will go up a bit as its a daily driver.
3. Color, Transmission-auto or manual, Navi?: Jet black on black leatherette, 6MT (tons of fun), with Heated Seats and Dark Wood Trim (see below for list of std features)
4. Reason for selling: *See above
5. Location: Madison WI and Chicago (Glenview)
6. Pictures: *See below for pix
7. Are you the first owner? Yes got it new from Laurel BMW in Westmont, IL on 12/21/07.
8. Title information: BMW Financial
9. VIN: available upon serious requests
10. Modifications: Bluetooth, Tints, M3 spoiler and Blackout badging
11. Service record: Recent BMW service (don't forget its free on BMW's) on 12/27/08 at Laurel BMW.
12. Details below

Lease:
Payments are $429/month with the lease ending on 12/21/10 so there is about 22 months left. The lease allows for 36016 miles on the car (12k/ yr). I will be adding enough miles to the lease if it is assumed so that the mileage goes back up near 1000 per month (its at about 850 miles/mo right now). Tax was paid in IL when I purchased the car but your state might tax the lease payments so you might want to call someone local in your area to ask about it. The residual on the car at the end of the lease is $22k and change.

I am not asking for ANY down payment (I put down $3000 for these low payments), just take over the lease through BMW financial and its yours. The lease assumption is $500, which I ask the buyer pays. Just know that that to complete the assumption takes about a month from what I am told however if you are approved for credit and all the paperwork is filed I can give you the car a little early.

OR

If you want to buy the car outright:
Current NADA Guide Value (which is what banks use to value for loans) on the car is:
Retail - $36125 (which I know isn't very realistic right now)
Clean Trade-In - $31600.
Edmunds.com True Market Value price has it listed at $31800 for a private party sale.

If you wanted to just buy it outright, I'll be happy to sell it for what I owe on it which is $30,000 (good thru 2/18) which is $1800 below TMV pricing.

MORE INFO:
08 328xi Sedan
Jet Black
Black leatherette
Heated Seats
Dark Wood Trim (not pictured)

A few Standard Features include:
3.0-liter, 230-horsepower (DOHC) inline 24-valve 6-cylinder engine
xDrive all-wheel-drive system
Headlight Washer System
Aux in jack for MP3 players
Engine Start/Stop ignition system (no turning keys anymore! )
2 Way Power Sunroof
Dynamic Stability and Traction Control (DSC and DTC)
*for more info visit here

Extra mods included for you to keep:
Parrot Bluetooth w LCD screen (with free uninstall from Best Buy so you can keep after lease is up)
Blackout Emblems
M3 lip rear spoiler
50F/35R 3M tints - done professionally

I will be unmodding a few more cosmetic things on the car (mostly the interior) and putting back on OEM rims with RFT tires/tpms (currently have winter wheels/tires on it that I plan to keep) original wood trim, oem door stills, shifter boot/knob and ebrake handle.

2 mods I will let you keep at no charge are the muffler delete mod (easily returned to stock, non warranty voiding and sounds mean) and the H&R sport springs installed (1.2" drop) if you'd like them. If not I'll be paying to have those uninstalled. The OEM muffler and OEM springs will obviously be included if you want to keep these mods.

I will also come down and get you from any airport in Madison, Milwaukee or Chicago if you are coming in from out of town. The car is currently garaged in Madison, WI with me.

I will be traveling to Chicago the weekend of the 2/13/08 if anyone around the area wants to come see it in Glenview (near north burbs).

PS... I apologize for the dirty pix of the car, the snow was melting here the other day and got the car a little dirty, plus my parking garage is a little dusty. I'll try to take some clean ones outside one day this weekend if the weather is nice.

PM me with any questions or more info.

Thanks
-Badger

also forgot to add: if you don't need the extra miles on the lease (currently there is 850 miles / month allowance) then I'll still throw in $675 cash to lower the effective monthly payment down to $398/month for the remaining 21 months.

Mmm, we hang out at the same places. Good luck with the 330xi, the 3 stage intake and software will be worth more than it probably seems right now.

Sick color scheme, love the blacklines.
GL with the sale.

im new to the whole lease scene...im in glenview too btw...

so i have to have credit for the dealer to approve me, then i pay every month obviously and you say it could be as low as $398 x 22 months remaining = $8800 (ahem, which i have ahem)...but my main question is that after the lease is up, I have to give the car back and then lease something else??? or can the lease be renewed until it is fully paid off??? or do they want you to pay the remaining $22k after the lease is up??

basically what are the options after you go through 2010 with the lease payments??

thanks man.

Luigi,

it'd be $429 (or $398 if you don't need the miles)/month for 21 months since my next payment is due in like a week or so and it takes a few weeks for BMW to process the whole thing). At the end of the lease you have 2 options. 1 would be to turn in the car and buy/lease something else (obviously not limited to bmw's) or 2 you can buy the car for $22.5k which is a predetermined value, and either pay cash or finance through BMW or even the bank of your choice.

ok thanks. I guess i'm interested, but i thought about it and i REALLY doubt anyone would let a 19 year old lease a 1 yr old BMW especially in these economic times even though i have enough saved up for the lease already and hold a "low paying teen job"...lol

but good luck!

dude you'd be surprised. you can always call bmw financial to see if you prequalify and just tell um you'd be assuming a current lease. because you're not throwing down as much $ as most people do, you probably don't need to be making as much as they do.

well one last thing i was wondering: so at the end of this lease, the car can't have more than 36016miles on it, right? do you actually have to be less than 1000max/month or can you average it out?

well basically for me, driving to school everyday, i do 1200+ a month during school year, but then even that out during the summer. i average ~13000 a year, so does that mean you would just pay more for the extra miles??

just wanna look at all aspects, sorry for all the questions man.

its really a nice car!

no its cool...

you can use up miles till you hit 36015 miles in the 1st month if you wanted to, let it sit in your garage for a few years and then use the last mile on it to go turn it in... nobody checks your mileage every month or anything.

right now it has appx 850 miles per month avg left. I am going to be buying more miles to bump that up close to 1000/month avg so depending on the exact # of miles I buy to do that, it will bump up the end mileage allowance. instead of 36016 it will go up to say 40016 if i buy 4000 miles. You can add miles anytime during the lease (until 2-3 months before it ends) for 16 cents/mile. If you happen to go over and don't add them before its up, you get charged 20 cents a mile at the end so it obviously much cheaper to do it before hand. you can even just wait till that 3 months before turning it in and just buy more miles then (since you'll have a better picture of how many you might need if any) instead of trying to average it by month... might make a little more sense to do it that way.
