Nice car; personally, I'd raise the price a bit if I were you.

Thanks - it is a nice car. I'm not even sure if I want to sell it... Has to be a right buyer to appreciate how I pampered it. It is the best car I've ever owned, but time to move on to an SUV/family vehicle.

Been there, done that, got the freakin' tee shirt. A long time ago I went from driving a 530i Sport Package 5-Speed to a minivan; kind of hurt my brain.

FWIW #1, I lived in Hoffman Estates between 1980 and 1982; seems like a lifetime ago.
FWIW #2, I bought my 2006 TL 6MT last year with nearly twice as many miles in it as you have on yours and I paid $10,000; if you aren't in a hurry to sell it, bump the price and hold out for a good offer.

Thanks. What a coincidence on Hoffman Estates. It (still) is a nice town to live in.
I've had 2004 330i ZHP. Then this TL. Outside of the whole RWD vs FWD argument, this TL is a better vehicle overall. Zero problems in 12 years (besides the normal front bushings which were not very expensive to replace).
I see you have a Mazda now. I'm replacing the TL with a CX-9. Nice vehicle, but the smooth 6sp manual TL will be missed.
I didn't expect any feedback to 'raise' the price. I will be listing it locally within next week or so, I have to do more research on that.

Thanks for the advice.

Yeah, we've had two Mazda3s, a 2009 (went with my son to college, never came back) and then this one which replaced my wife's GTI which was a pain in the bank account to keep running. For my daily driver, I always wanted a 3G TL when they came out, and once "minivan-time" expired, I went out and fetched me one.

Good luck and keep us posted!

If your not in a hurry to sell, raise the price. Someone will buy it once tax season starts.

This is literally the perfect example of a TL I would buy if I were in the market right now (and didn't already own 5 cars )

Thanks, all these comments make me want to pull this ad an keep it around for my daughter (she'll be able to drive it in 4 years). I'm just afraid she'll never want to drive a stick.

Too funny, I taught my kids how to drive manual transmissions and now they absolutely refuse to drive anything else. My son is the worst, he has now had seven cars (four of which he still has) since he got his driver's license eight years ago, and all of them have/had manual transmissions.

I'm not sure how active you've been on here but I will tell you that I sold my pretty pristine 2004 for a 2007 Type S...
both manuals...I regretted that move because something about the base aspec 04 just looked perfect...the blue ambient
the smooth engine that got great gas mileage. I have regretted the decision as much as a guy that doesn't regret can...
and I've had some cool cars after it too but I maintain that overall the TL was a better car in all aspects overall...
like a jack of all trades master of none.

I would urge you to consider hanging onto it...yes it'll be nice to have an 8K down payment on your MDX or whatever you
opt for but you'll miss the story that went with it, the manual and the 12 years of hard maintenance and love you have pretty
clearly showed it. You can't replace that with money or a newer car.

If your car was priced below my "too low to resist" threshold it would be my 6th vehicle.

It is certainly very near my "too low to resist" threshold; but what am I going to do with two manual 2006 TLs?

I've already made my purchase, I don't really need the money for a down payment. I've never considered to own 3 cars (TL, now a new Mazda CX9 and a Sienna), but I felt uneasy when I took the pictures to sell this car. Let me sleep on this decision, but I think I will keep the TL.

My personal opinion is, if you keep it you'll not regret it.

This car is worth more than your asking to the right buyer. Most people will still say it may be high for a 12 year old car but the ones that know these cars would jump on it in a heartbeat. RS143, welcome back to owning a 3G, Do it!

The Audi isn't worth 8K...
if it were a like for like exchange that would be done TODAY.
I miss having a Honda daily driver and the 3G is a perfect example of that.
I think OP will decide to keep it.

I don't know that I'd prefer it over the Volvo but instead of the Volvo with money in the bank could be cool.
Always options.

Thanks all for the nice comments. To summarize: I still intend to sell the car. I figured that I'd attempt to sell it to enthusiasts first. All I can say (in addition to what's already been said) is that this car is worth seeing.

Andy had a talk with his wife...
the idea was nixed
you came to the right place though, it'll sell pretty quickly, man.
Thanks for giving the forum first shot at it.

Haha - funny - the wife is supportive and said that whatever I decide is fine, but made a strong suggestion that I should sell. I figured that I will give this forum a chance, before opening it to tire-kickers from craigslist.

Sale is pending. That's for all the feedback- perhaps I could've gotten a bit more, but I think this price is fair for both sides.

To be honest...I sold mine for $8000 TWO YEARS ago and although I had higher mileage, I did have a few grand in tasteful modifications
thrown in. I think you did just fine...

Beautiful! I think you could have gotten 10 but if you sold it that quickly, sometimes that means more!

Thanks - just confirming that the car is sold, thread can be closed.

Perhaps I could've gotten 10, but I did extensive search on eBay, looking at sold listing with manual transmission TLs. I think $8200 is a good deal, considering it was a hassle free transaction and it went to a car enthusiast.

Good to hear it went to a home where it will be cared for and appreciated. Regarding the ten grand, yeah, last year when I was shopping I looked at (first on the internet, and then, if the car was good enough, in person which was probably 10% of the time) nearly 100 cars; when I found my current ride, listed for $11,500, I took it for a ten minute test drive, negotiated the price to $10,000, and happily wrote a check on the spot. That car had been for sale for less than 24 hours when I bought it.

I considered your earlier post about the price you paid. However, a year has passed since then, also my car was due registration fees at the end of the year. Considering all, I think both parties of the transactions had a decent deal.

The bottom line is that I paid no transaction fees, I didn't deal with any tire-kickers from sites like craigslist and didn't waste any time - thanks to this forum.

No, it wasn't rs143. I received a couple of offers via private messages from users that didn't participate in this thread (sorry, not up to me to decide if he wants to be disclosed here). It went to another long-time member of acurazine.
