Ok so I am having trouble with deciding on if I should buy this 2006 RSX type S for $6600, 112,000 mileages on it. Yes it's weird for the car to have only that much mileage and be so cheap. Here comes the bad news, the car has been in an accident and it's from a person on craigslist which is from an auctioneer that bought the car. I ran the Vin on autocheck and that's where I found the accident report. I have told the seller to get a certified mechanic from a Honda or Acura dealer to look into it and find out if the car can still be good and to email me the report. Now I would go myself to look at the car but I live too far and don't have time for it. Down below is the report of it from autocheck.

ummmmm, if you cannot check out the car yourself, and you really dont know whats going on with it, it would seem as if it was a bad deal, ESPECIALLY if its from craigslist/auction house.

too be frank, you need to actually test out the car to make sure you are getting a good car.

I have already went in person to test drive it and love it but only found out later after I had asked him for the car report, which is my fault for not looking into it more before. I asked him to get me a certified report on the right side of the car by a Honda/Acura dealership and told him to email me the report, which I plan to call them up and make sure that the document wasn't a fake one.

 

dude, don't buy it.

 

He's already paid for the car and is picking it up tomorrow.

in the Original Post, you stated that you dont have time to go look at it.

your test drive needs to be thorough. check EVERYTHING, including body panels, engine, brakes, suspension, EVERYTHING!

remember, used cars are sold as is. that means, if you buy it broken, you'll have to take it as is.

 

I have not bought the car yet. Then my other option is an 2004 RSX type s 77,000 but the price for it is a bit much.

if you have the means of fixing it, then by all means, buy it and fix it.

but if you want a reliable daily driver, maybe you should look at a car that is closer to you. one that you can inspect with a magnifying glass.


here is a personal story.
I was selling a '99 Chevy Malibu. I let the prospective buyers KNOW that the water pump needs to be replaced and if they do buy it, DO NOT DRIVE IN THE RED temp zone.

some girl bought it and guess what...she drove in the red zone and tried to blame me, even tho I had drew up a bill of sale which outlined that the car was sold as is.

basically, it was her fault and had no course of action against me, because the car was sold as is.

 

First off, a dealership won't just check the right side of the car. If you pay for an inspection, they will look at the entire car. Second, they will look to see that everything works. I highly doubt they will look for shoddy repair work, which might not even be visible.

I'm telling you, hold off on buying this car. There's no such thing as a great deal when it comes to a top trim Honda/Acura. Sellers aren't stupid. They know what they're worth and they know others want them. However, one thing that is true about Hondas/Acuras- you get what you paid for.

 

Do you know why it's so expensive? Because it's a Type S, it's desirable, and likely in good condition. Like I just said, you get what you pay for. If it's too expensive, maybe consider saving some more money, or, lower your standards and get a good condition, reliable car that fits your budget.

Don't be a baller on a budget. That's the worst thing you could do.
