ABS wheel sensor
ABS wheel sensor
Hello, am a new member and this is my first post to rhis forum. i have this 03 rsx am trying to fix for my son. the general repair is to replace the ball joints, i have much loosen the bolts and nuts on the knuckle incldg the one on the wheel sensor. the problem is that the sensor is stuck...is there any special tool to safely remove the sensor? another option is to unplug/disconnect the sensor connector. what will happen if the connector is unplug? appreciate any advice. thank you
If the ABS sensor is plastic like on some other Honda products, and it is seized in the knuckle, I doubt you’ll get it out without breaking it. Last one I worked on was my Honda Element, and the plastic sensor was seized in the knuckle. I broke the tab trying to remove it, and ended up leaving it that way. The other side did come out though.
If you have a lot of time and patience you could try and completely soak the area in a penetrating oil like Kroil or PB Blaster, bash the knuckle in areas near near the sensor with a hammer, and hope that over time it works loose.
If you’re only servicing the ball joint, there may be aftermarket options that can be used. It’s typical for Honda to not sell the lower ball joint separately and that sucks.

Thank you very much. I just disconnected the connector and will try your advice to soak the sensor on a rust blaster and hope for the best. I sourced the balljoints and outer tie rod not from honda just hoping they will fit. will keep you posted on this diy. Have a great day!
