2016 ILX lowering springs(informative )
OK so I've come to realize most people on these forums aren't true enthusiasts and wait on other people or shops to do all their research for them, that's fine I get it. With that being said I put in the effort to try and find a set of springs that will work for the 2016 ilx.
Results: in 2014 the civic SI received a revision to the front suspension, likewise so did the 2016 ilx. Is it possible the same revision done on the civic was done to the ilx? The answer is yes.
So ANY 2014-2015 civic SI suspension part swaps direct into the 2016 ilx. Now be careful when looking for springs and coil overs most sites claim their product is 2012+ SI which is not the case you MUST find the product for 2014+ in my case I ordered 2014+ d2 lowering springs I even cross referenced the part number to the 2012 to make sure I wasn't getting the wrong kind, they will hopefully be installed this weekend.

There are many threads regarding coilover fitment and an AZ User actually has godspeed 2014 civic SI coilovers installed and it fits perfectly.
I actually had Eibach's R&D department keep my car for a couple of days and test fit their springs products (pro-kit and sport line springs) on my 2016 ILX sometime in March of this year. They only tested the previous year ILX springs and here is what the R&D Manager mentioned to me.
"The previous kit fits on the vehicle physically however the lowering amount is not correct.
The kit lowers way to much in the front and not enough in the rear."
If what you are saying is true, would you think Eibach's 2014 Hondoa Civic SI Pro Kit Performance Springs fit our 2016 ILX?

Just so i am clear, you are strictly talking about springs and not coilovers correct? Or is there a fitment difference between the two?

Coil overs from 2014+ SI work, and as for the issue eibach had doesn't surprise me the suspension is very similar the insulators are different also the front will be slightly lower than an Si due to our heavy 8spd . They main change from previous year was the angle of the front mounting point

Right on, thanks for the info. So do you think 2014 civic si Eibach Springs would work over previous year ILX's ?

They are D2 lowering springs, ride quality is....well they aren't like a good coil over setup but not harsh or bouncy, I scrape the lil mud flaps in front of the tires everywhere though :/ but I'm used to that.

Much appreciation for taking the time to give Civic SI springs a try. Makes sense, if everyone else is using 2014 SI Coilovers why not try springs. That's a lot of leg work you must have put in to figure that out.
Since I'm not a true enthusiast, I've been waiting for a reputable company to release a set of springs that are actually designed to fit the '16 ILX. Proper springs rates and all. I'm sure there's about 150lbs difference between the two cars. With the ILX being mostly front end heavy.
Maybe you can post up some pics once the rear end settles.
I'd be pretty disappointed if my front end was slammed and scrapping mud guards while my rear end had 2.5 inches of wheel gap. Especially after putting in all that research on 2014 Civic SI springs.

So apparently i noticed on Acura of Glendale's (CA) instagram that they decided to throw some 19" wheels lowered on H&R Sport Springs.
I contacted them via instagram and they confirmed that H&R manufactures springs for the 2016 ILX.
I did some quick searches and simply found out that H&R just uses 2014 Civic SI spring part#
I suppose on the picture below you can still see how the front is way lower than the back.
Just as iRaw mentioned ... I can't wait until an actual spring set is created for the '16 ILX, rather than manufactures simply labeling their '14 Civic SI springs as '16 ILX friendly!

Three Wheelin'
Back in my younger days, I used lower springs on a '92 Integra and while it looked good, the ride was horrible. There's no way I could stand that kind of ride quality these days. Is there such a thing as lowering springs that still has mostly OEM original ride quality?

I'm pretty sure the moment you lower you car the ride becomes pretty stiff, no matter how good the springs are. There is just less space for movement, so it needs to be stiffer. Correct me if I'm wrong.
#19
You are correct. If you take away an inch of suspension travel its impossible to get the same ride feel.

2012-13 Civic Si =2013-15 Acura ILX (all models)
2014-2015 Si = 2016 Acura ILX
2016 Honda Civic EX has different suspension so that if the 2017 ILX is sharing the same chassis again than it is completely different.

My 2016 ILX
I purchased my ILX at Acura of Glendale. They installed the H&R springs. Same ones as above. Here are some images. I cant decide if I want to install wheel spacers or opt for wider rims.
I've also tinted the windows. That's all for now.
Anyone know of any big brake kits for the 2016 ILX?
I've also tinted the windows. That's all for now.

Great. The H&R Springs website applicator says the part number for 2016 ILX is 51890; but acura of glendale installed part no. 51891 as shown on your pictures.
I believe the 51890 is the same as the 12-15 civic si sedan and 51891 is the same as 12-15 civic si coupe
I wonder why H&R website says 51890 but acura of glendale installed 51891?
Any thoughts?
Just want some clarification before purchasing.

So it seems like there is nothing on the market that is specifically designed for the 16+ ILX... I called Eibach earlier and they mentioned they are currently developing one for 16+, however, no one knows when the product will actually be available.

I may have very easily missed someone answering, but is there a "good" brand out there with coil overs for the 16+ years. I have a 17 and am looking for a decent coil set up again I may of easily missed someone answer this already but I didn
t see the answer I was looking for.

17x8 40mm offset with 235/45/17 tires Lowered on Tein S-Tech springs
That's an aggressive drop. Says 2" drop for those D2 Springs plus the extra few mm once they settle. I lowered mine on Tein S-techs and i think its pretty low. I wouldn't be surprised if you dont rub with any aftermarket wheels wide/bigger offset.

2016 Coils?
Hey 2016 base ilx, currently interested in new suspension setup. Stock broke so looking for an upgrade, Not much knowledge in automotive field (also aftermarket brand knowledge) but based on info found on forum i've swayed more to godspeed project MAXX or MonoRS coilover and maybe swapping to BC springs. Any info helps

2024 Updated Prices
Coilover probably $1300 max, Idk nothing abut stiffness still new but trying to doing research. Not trying to cheap out on low quality parts to fail prematurely but I also want warranty. NGL I stay around the higher mph when possible but STOCK ilx is 160mph. NY based so lots of potholes and swerving back and forth to weave them. Can't weave them all and heard potholes are like coilover kryptonite.
Read around based on past experiences decent sets. priced from coiloverdepot.com or direct website
1.BC RACING BR, 1 year. $1195+
2. D2 Racing RS series. 1 year. $1150 or $977.5
3. Godspeed MAXX. 1 year. $891
4. Truhart StreetPlus. 2 years. $700
5. Tein. $950

If you live in a area where the roads are rough and lots of steep inclines to get in and out of, i would personally go stick with oem set up. I'm lowered and many times i have to be extremely careful getting in and out of places, even my driveway. Coilovers will ride ruff regardless what brand you go with. Those un avoidable potholes will cause alot of damage if you bottom out. Michigan has a reputation for bad roads as well but i don't daily drive mine.
#34
Same the roads are terrible but might just go BC. Not much inclines in my area but road debris and potholes are common. Not fixated on the lowering abilities tbh stock looks decent. I daily drive but looks like a 50/50 good or bad. Also sucks not much aftermarket selections beside basic interchangeable civic mods
