I recently did an oil change on my car and I put Prestone full synthetic and the capacity is 3.9L. When I started the car up I noticed a ticking coming from the motor put its not a metal sort of tick but rather a rubber or plastic ticking, at first I thought it was my dip stick so I shifted it around and nothing, I next checked the spark plugs because maybe one had come loose as the sound seems to come from that area but they were good and I retightened them, the sound comes from the top front of the motor right where the spark plugs would be so It seems, I've let the car warm up to get the oil circulating but nothing, and it seems to do it when idling in park or neutral and not while driving or in drive. Any ideas and has anyone dealt with this or something similar?

 

I would start with everything that could have been touched during that oil change. Starting with hood latch to prop rod oil filler cap. Since noise is only there during idol, its most likely a loose physical object vibrating around.
