Wheels, Finally
1 Attachment(s)
Finally got them on. 18 x 8 Enkei TS9 Platinum Gray with polished face and spokes.
|
Added a cheap urethane STI splitter. Did a test fit before paint and left it on.

|
Used factory holes for center section mounting

What offset did you go with? Thinking about these wheels or the Enkei TS-10. Car looks dope.
|
Do you have any more pictures of the splitter you can share?
|
I didn't plan on a progress thread, but I guess this is it!
I followed usdmJON (https://acurazine.com/forums/acura-i.../) for the LED fogs and STI splitter thank you for the tips.

Offset is 45 and they don't come in polished ;)

Wheels look great. Haha - clever "ILL" badging, too.
|
Had some remarks out in the wild, so I used the other letters
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...8f7ec95fd4.jpg I'm gathering parts for an exhaust system https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...44973684d2.jpg |
Rolled some body up out of the way only to find I may need to trim the bumper bar a little to get duals in there. Shot the underside of the floor pan with Boom Mat to shield some of the heat.
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...eb2e8e5e1b.jpg |
So it begins
https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...b154293c42.jpg The 4" oval is to make the crossover, no Y's allowed. It's been a few years since I welded, so a little re-learning curve ahead and I going MIG gasless with Blue Demon 308LFC-O. It's all going to be wrapped so my learning curve won't show. Gotta control the heat because her belly will be skinned. |
Had to trim bumper bar slightly and roll body more, but very successful day.

Looking good. The hard part will be making the trim go back in and look right.
How do you plan to reapply the black trim? |
I don't plan on cutting the trim until it's much closer to complete, but it's held on by clips that slip into the 7 slots at the perimeter and one screw thru the little hole to the right.
|
And the fun begins

Looked like the perfect spot for the exhaust crossover hangars

Learning to TIG on the parts that will be wrapped.
Here is the Y/crosspipe I'm building. How it will look is first then a peek inside https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...93f23565b1.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...c04cbe1113.jpg |

looking good :flamewar:
|
that's hot
|
Thank you. Need to mount the tips and route the tail pipes. I just wanted to make sure everything lined correctly and see if the picture of the mind's eye was accurate.
Up front I put a Stainless Works 3" (2.5" thru) so in the quiet setting it's the same volume as stock, just deeper (while dumping under body) https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...91a7325f95.jpg |
Put blackout vinyl on lower center of bumper, not sure about painting it
https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...39fb4d2a0e.jpg |
|
I was under the hood today and saw that a simple snorkel removal would change the intake from under hood to cold air
https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...14c3373531.jpg |
Got the tail pipes in so actually exiting the tips now.

Wow, I'm super impressed overall...
I thought it was going to be another half hearted attempted at modding... nicely done! |
Thank you.
It is whole hearted. When things aren't available, learn how to do it yourself ;) |
I'm an idiot, not a hack. Kept this from a director's chair trophy from the '80s

|
Very impressive Exhaust build man, Hats off.
|
Did some interior lighting today. Bought a few of these For the footwells I cut them down to six LEDs each, using velcro to attach under the seat for rear and used full 18 in trunk. Ice Blue BBY

|
Cool, how'd you cut that? Plastic hot knife?
|
I used a Gesswein BH-60 brushless type rotary handpiece with a high speed burr then sealed gap with clear RTV silicone.
I got this when polishing the wheels and it comes in very handy https://www.gesswein.com/p-10788-ultramax-mf.aspx |
Got tired of the look of the calipers and installed some covers
https://www.calipercovers.com/ https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...21a9f8f36b.jpg |
That's pretty cool...
the deburring tool thingy... I'm not a fan of caliper covers but that's just me. |
I had the dust shields in before and thought I'd try these. Thought about big brakes, but I don't need them, it's just a Civic.
