Wheels, Finally

1 Attachment(s)
Finally got them on. 18 x 8 Enkei TS9 Platinum Gray with polished face and spokes.

DaIll1 07-01-2017 10:09 PM

Added a cheap urethane STI splitter. Did a test fit before paint and left it on.

Used factory holes for center section mounting

What offset did you go with? Thinking about these wheels or the Enkei TS-10. Car looks dope.

Petahhbread 07-10-2017 11:55 PM

Do you have any more pictures of the splitter you can share?

DaIll1 07-12-2017 04:03 PM

I didn't plan on a progress thread, but I guess this is it!
I followed usdmJON (https://acurazine.com/forums/acura-i.../) for the LED fogs and STI splitter thank you for the tips.

Thank you.
Offset is 45 and they don't come in polished ;)

Specific angle?

4cruizn 07-14-2017 03:32 PM

Wheels look great. Haha - clever "ILL" badging, too.

DaIll1 10-18-2017 09:06 PM

Had some remarks out in the wild, so I used the other letters
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...8f7ec95fd4.jpg

I'm gathering parts for an exhaust system
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...44973684d2.jpg

DaIll1 10-28-2017 09:30 PM

Rolled some body up out of the way only to find I may need to trim the bumper bar a little to get duals in there. Shot the underside of the floor pan with Boom Mat to shield some of the heat.

DaIll1 11-07-2017 02:23 PM

So it begins

https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...b154293c42.jpg

The 4" oval is to make the crossover, no Y's allowed.
It's been a few years since I welded, so a little re-learning curve ahead and I going MIG gasless with Blue Demon 308LFC-O. It's all going to be wrapped so my learning curve won't show. Gotta control the heat because her belly will be skinned.

DaIll1 11-08-2017 08:20 PM

Had to trim bumper bar slightly and roll body more, but very successful day.

Daily Driver so back together for another day

usdmJON 11-11-2017 04:04 AM

Looking good. The hard part will be making the trim go back in and look right.

How do you plan to reapply the black trim?

DaIll1 11-11-2017 10:31 AM

I don't plan on cutting the trim until it's much closer to complete, but it's held on by clips that slip into the 7 slots at the perimeter and one screw thru the little hole to the right.

DaIll1 03-16-2018 02:11 PM

And the fun begins

DaIll1 03-21-2018 10:23 PM

Looked like the perfect spot for the exhaust crossover hangars

DaIll1 03-24-2018 08:08 PM

Learning to TIG on the parts that will be wrapped.
Here is the Y/crosspipe I'm building.
How it will look is first then a peek inside

Getting there

visi_d 06-11-2018 08:12 AM

looking good :flamewar:

justnspace 06-11-2018 08:22 AM

that's hot

DaIll1 06-12-2018 09:01 PM

Thank you. Need to mount the tips and route the tail pipes. I just wanted to make sure everything lined correctly and see if the picture of the mind's eye was accurate.
Up front I put a Stainless Works 3" (2.5" thru) so in the quiet setting it's the same volume as stock, just deeper (while dumping under body)

DaIll1 07-05-2018 08:43 PM

Put blackout vinyl on lower center of bumper, not sure about painting it

DaIll1 07-31-2018 04:40 PM

I was under the hood today and saw that a simple snorkel removal would change the intake from under hood to cold air

https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...14c3373531.jpg

DaIll1 08-21-2018 01:01 PM

Got the tail pipes in so actually exiting the tips now.

rockstar143 08-21-2018 01:32 PM

Wow, I'm super impressed overall...
I thought it was going to be another half hearted attempted at modding...
nicely done!

DaIll1 08-21-2018 03:26 PM

Thank you.
It is whole hearted. When things aren't available, learn how to do it yourself ;)

DaIll1 08-21-2018 09:20 PM

I'm an idiot, not a hack. Kept this from a director's chair trophy from the '80s

DaIll1 08-23-2018 02:26 PM

Added the AEM goodness

Nah, it's still a Honda tune. Changing the filter stopped the cackle on decompression so it's probably on the lean side.

joceyjocey 08-27-2018 05:32 PM

Love the " ILL" on back, thats clever. Car looks great too

aomechmarine 08-29-2018 02:15 AM

Very impressive Exhaust build man, Hats off.

DaIll1 09-17-2018 06:53 PM

Did some interior lighting today. Bought a few of these For the footwells I cut them down to six LEDs each, using velcro to attach under the seat for rear and used full 18 in trunk. Ice Blue BBY

Finally made up my mind on these

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...ac287b605.jpeg

rockstar143 09-28-2018 06:52 AM

Cool, how'd you cut that? Plastic hot knife?

DaIll1 09-28-2018 03:31 PM

I used a Gesswein BH-60 brushless type rotary handpiece with a high speed burr then sealed gap with clear RTV silicone.
I got this when polishing the wheels and it comes in very handy

DaIll1 10-17-2018 07:19 PM

Got tired of the look of the calipers and installed some covers
https://www.calipercovers.com/

https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...21a9f8f36b.jpg

rockstar143 10-17-2018 10:16 PM

That's pretty cool...
the deburring tool thingy...
I'm not a fan of caliper covers but that's just me.

DaIll1 10-18-2018 01:21 AM

I had the dust shields in before and thought I'd try these. Thought about big brakes, but I don't need them, it's just a Civic.
