2017 Acura ILX mod/tune
Hi! I got a 2017 Acura ILX a little over a month ago. So far I've only gotten a new muffler and downpipe, and some small interior things. I really want to add some horsepower to my car but can't seem to find anyone that has modded or tuned this year or model. It's a 4-cylinder 2.4L, I've considered a cold air intake as well as some new headers and maybe an exhaust system but I'm not sure how the car would handle it. Does anyone have any 2 cents or advice on what to do to add a few horses? I really wanted to be over 300 but don't know if that's possible with this car. Thanks in advance!

Not to be the bearer of bad news, but My 2 cents is that you'd be hard pressed to even get past 250whp on any of the 2016+ model years without very extensive modifications that would probably cost a majority of the car's value as is. I've owned both the 1st and 1.5 gen ILXs, sold a 16' to get my current 13' 6mt k24z7 due to the lack of aftermarket support for that power train. The intake/exhaust manifolds are swapped vs. other K series motors, meaning there is no crossover to the si aftermarket parts. The dual clutch transmission is unique to that platform as well and although I really love how responsive it is, it likely wouldn't be able to withstand much more power. I had my 16' fitted with almost every bolt-on available and running K-tuner base map, unofficial butt dyno would say it was probably somewhere around 2-210whp max. Still a fun car and I enjoyed it regardless, I'm sure you will as well.

Considering that the V6 J32-j37 out of the TL/MDX, etc....can barely crack 300whp with just bolt ons, you wont even come close to hitting 300 in an N/A 4cylinder.
it's always a reality check when trying to modify for horsepower. Temper your expectations and you'll be alright with the '17 ILX.
of course, if one goes forced induction, one can hit those goals pretty quickly. but then the limiting factor would be the DCT
I think the ILX is a better car for suspension mods that help the car be more nimble instead of straight on speed.
if straight on speed is more your flavor, you'll need a better platform to start with.

By The Way; Those gears fit out transmission so you don't need to buy complete. If you go with new, it's still open diff.

Intake, RV6 Catless Downpipe, Catback Exhaust, Ktuner is the standard FBO setup. I would get a custom tune after that to get the most out of your midrange VTEC engagement as well. All of that is roughly $2300-$2500.
But you should also be looking at some suspension bits as well. Springs or Coilovers, camber correction arms for the rear, and sway bars if you want them.
Power-wise, that's probably 220-225 hp. Probably something in the range of 5.9ish 0-60 and a mid-low 14's quarter mile or so.
If you want 300+ hp, then this might be your best bet.

For around $5000
The ILX's K24V Earthdreams is pretty similar to the 9th Gen Accord's K24W Earthdreams.
I would go get that professionally dyno tuned though, since our compression is a little higher than the Accord's K24, so you might run into detonation sooner.
And lastly, I don't think anyone knows what the limit of the ILX's Dual Clutch Transmission is. Accord's CVT only takes 250-270whp. The Accord's Manual takes 300+ with a beefier clutch, but we don't have that option.
If you wanted to go all out, I think that with enough money, desire, and fabrication know-how, the 9th gen Accord's 6-speed might fit. But at this point, you've probably dropped $12-15k into this vehicle. Maybe just best to end up getting an CTR or TLX with the 2.0t which is easily modifiable up to 400whp.
