2016 ILX Remote Start System III Review?

Does anyone have any negatives and positives about this specific system for 2016 Acura ILX aspect w/tech? I bought my car in March 2015 brand new and always thought about this system but I wanted to see if its worth getting installed and using. I live in Hawaii if that matters.

When I bought my ILX 2016, that is the first thing I bought was a remote start III. Worth every penny IMO. The nice thing about the remote start is has a nice feature where it knows when the weather is cold so it heats up the interior when remote start is running and when the weather is hot it cools down the interior. Not cheap but a good OEM upgrade. Plus the original keys still works with the car. so you will end up with 4 sets of keys/fobs

Thanks for the reply. I'll look into it especially since my friend can get me a discount at acura. I read about it briefly on forums and does it turn off the car when the door opens?

The remote session runs for 10 mins which you can start the remote two times before you have to start your car. The car is still running when you open your doors which is nice. The remote start II is the one that kills the car engine if the door is opened.

We got the remote start in our 17 premium as a standard feature. It was definitely used every day this winter and the range is phenomenal. It can be started blocks away.

one of the best upgrades you can do, came with my package but if it's an upgrade youre after - i'd higly suggest it.

+ Very good range
+ Validation of lock/unlock/auto start via the lights when your're not in direct line of sight
+ Doesnt feel cheap - my frist gen ILX had the chippy chome-effect keyfob that looked rough after a few months
- the plastic backing is scratched

Before I had remote start installed, the range of the regular key fob was terrible. I had to be within about 20 feet of the car to lock or unlock it. The range of the remote is now about 335 feet! Totally worth the upgrade to me.

I’m curious about this as well. I’m looking to install it in my 19 ASpec.

Why do you need such a big range for the remote? I just grab the handle or push the button on the handle (proximity key).

Well for remote start range is obviously very important. If I have to be 35 feet from my car to start it it defeats the whole purpose of remote start. My 16 ASpec came with remote start and I could start it from inside my office building with my car in the very back if the lot. Unfortunately my 19 ASpec doesn’t have it but I’d like to get it done.

Hmm, I suppose. I don't know anybody with remote start as it's kind of useless where I live.

I am interested in the remote start as well, but the OEM is no longer available--discontinued-- which really sucks because it's only 3 yrs old. I just bought my ILX in January 2019 and I really want the remote start. I've contacted every dealer on the east coast and they all tell me the same thing; go aftermarket. Any ideas?

Is there any way to desactivate the auto climate when use the Remote Start System ? In my case, the climate system start immediatly which could seem interresting but Iprefer to not start the fan when cold. I thought the motor could be dommaged if do so. And it happen to dommaged, now my fan sound like there is a bird inside

Remote start

This is the unit I installed. Required some wiring modifications for the regular remote to retain all function, but it works great.

Thanks for the reply. It's actually an alternative. But maybe I forgot to said, my mistake, sorry. I buy the Acura ILX Premium with the remote include with the start engine include also. My question was, is there any option on the radio or the remote where we can decide how the fan will be handle. For now, the automatic climate start but in the cold, the fan get hard to start from cold to hi-speed. I know, 80% of my friends told me that doesn't hurt the motor of the fan. But, still keep my point, it is. And I tend to be right since only after 2 years, the fan make a weird sound at low.

If there is, it would have to be set at the dealership. There are a lot of functions that can be changed on mine, so I assume that it could be reset by Acura as well.
