Has anyone heard any rumours about Car Play being released with the 2016 ILX? Or if it will be a software or hardware upgrade?

From what I have been reading it looks like Car Play will become more prominent in 2015 finally.

 

It's a possibility, but the 16 ILX is coming pretty early in the calendar year. Maybe too early.

 

I now own one and it does NOT have CarPlay. It has Acura's proprietary "AcuraLink" which allows the Acura navigation app ($60) to be mirrored on the main Navigation screen from a phone. It does not work with other navigation apps (i.e. Waze), unfortunately. It someone can figure out a hack or workaround that could make this work with Waze, I'd be eternally grateful.

 

I've used the app/car interface and it's pretty slick. Not a bad option for $60 worth of cables and a $60 app instead of however much the factory nav is.

 

that will be in when acura/honda pays the license fee for car play or android auto. new cars only

 

I do know there is a way to get the '16 Premium models to mirror the iPhone display.


Some times when syncing to the AcuraLink app it messes up, and you can press the Home button on your phone.

For a few seconds you'll actually see the apps from your phone mirrored to the navagation display, it'll even rotate 90° when you spin your phone.

Unfortunately after a few seconds it realizes whats going on, and blanks out our navigation display with a 'connecting' screen.

 

Nope.. I have carPlay in my 2014 RAM. It actually has a lot of bugs. my headunit was the first to get it last year and it is not ready for prime time yet for sure.

New 8 speed transmission matched the the 5.7L.

 

Rumor has it the next Honda model (Accord Refresh?) might be the first to offer CarPlay.

As I'm sure the '17 ILX's will offer it as well, we can only help there will be a firmware update for our existing Premium/Tech versions to support it. Its already got all the right connections and hardware for it, just needs the software to run it all.

 

Sorry to disappoint you guys 2016 ILX wont have Carplay, all what i have is HDMI which only connects to Iphone (only) to use Navigation app which can purchased for 60$
Acura link apps are pretty bad. Im waiting for the NAVTOOL stream, thats only our hope.

 

Anyone know if CarPlay will support the 2016 ILX? Maybe with a software update?

 

has anyone tried to add the oem factory cable and try this method?
