hahhaa I feel that - a lot of female friends really liked my ILX (they called it cute ) but the ILX isn't really known well to the average person. When I was renting a car once, I had an Elantra booked and the agent was trying to upsell me and asked what I drove (back in 2013)... I told him Acura ILX and he said I DEFINITELY wanted something closer to the size of my personal car... either a Merc GLK350 or Ford Edge Titanium.... I took a fully loaded Cruze LTZ for free instead

I left my Honda dealership job right before the new Civic came out... I din't evene know they made a Touring ... Interesting.. What I REALLY think ids funny tho.. Is Hondata IMMEDIATELY jumped on the turbo motor support... 1) Its a civic, there's a billion on the road 2) they think a lot of people will want to tune it... but its funny... Hondata's youtube video's are so BS... They said that the new Civic turbo is SOO much faster then the past model Civic SI... But they compare a tuned car... to a stock car? WTF? BS Marketing... really serious... The youtube videos also block comments... HMMM wonder why? Maybe because if they are BOTH tuned the difference will be about the same...?

 

^not really. you can tune a turbo engine or change the parameters a lot easier than tuning an N/A engine

 

I own a 2016 ILX and I've test-driven a 2016 Civic Touring a few times. (I tried to actually buy a Civic Touring but market conditions prevented a good deal, which I've posted about in another thread.)

I don't agree with your statement. The Civic is a tremendous value, assuming you get a good deal near invoice price. But the ILX is a slight step up, with it's more powerful drivetrain.

It's just not true, IMO . The guy says. "Its faster in every condition, every gear..." NAH BRUH... Your car is already tuned, vs a non tuned... NO SHIT its faster!! They never refer to that... Actually, both cars in the video are bone stock (no tuning).

With that said, I think a properly driven Si would beat a properly driven Civic turbo, stock vs stock. Properly driven means the executing the launch and shifts perfectly. For the Si, that would take more skill. For the Civic Turbo, you just need to floor it, not shifting required.

In terms of tuning though, the 1.5 turbo engine probably has more potential.

I mean its a rev happy car.. you should be able to hear it when its trying...Like I say... marketing... Hondata believes the Turbo Civic's are gonna be a cash cow for them... It seems the Si driver didn't go all the way to the redline.

But ya, I can definitely see an agenda from Hondata..lol. There's a bit of exaggeration in the video, but boy, the Civic 1.5T is no slouch, that's for sure! Car and Driver's test shows that the Civic 1.5T has a 1/4 mile trap speed for 94mph. Civic Si is usually around 93-97mph.

For me, I'd like to see what a 6MT 1.5T civic can do.

 

I have a 2016 ILX Premium. The Civic Touring is the best value with Android/Apple support, 60/40 split, rain sensing wipers, heated rear seats all features you can't get on an ILX. Yet the ILX has to be one of the best deals right now. Just leased a Premium before TTL for $26,260 tons of rebates brought the lease of 24 months 12k a year, nothing down, 1st month paid, everything wrapped in to $354 a month with a $17,578 buyout. In contrast a Touring goes for $25,500 about in NYC before TTL. That minimal $700 or so for a better dealer experience, better warranty, and the 8 speed DCT is worth it. However I really am down that I don't get iOS or Android and rear heated seats. But the one comforting fact is that NO Acura right now offers Android/Apple support.

 

Just an update on the post. Kept the TLS and gave it away to my pops. Ended up getting the WRX premium edition.

The wifey really liked the car. I didn't mind since it's a nice safe car. Nimble little car getting around town and around the mountains of tahoe.

Anyway, my little sister is also looking into buying a new car. We shall see what car she chooses. We tested out the Infiniti G37, the interior reminded me of 3G TL, you guys got to check it out. NO JOKE.
