Glad to see you've joined the ilx crowd paperboy. I love mine and its the first year available for the ilx still going strong.
I probably could use a valve adjustment to quiet the engine a little. 2013 and I still love it every time i see it. I think youll love yours too. As well you may have room to tune the future which could make kt possible to see similar numbers to the type s.

^doubtful!
the Jseries is making more wheel hp than the ILX is making crank.
short of going F/I, the ILX wont reach TL power.
no replacement for displacement!!!!
but if power was George's goal, he wouldnt have swapped cars.
I suspect he likes the smaller footprint of the ILX and the newer tech amenities

Yeah I gotta agree with Spaceman. With tuning, he'll definitely be able to pull out a few more ponies, but it won't be anything crazy.
Overall though, both cars could end up being as quick as one another. Although the ILX puts down less power, it weighs less too. Some basic mods and a tune could help bring it to the same level.

Tl s is 286 on paper.
Someone's ilx with an intake and a tune put down 204 to the wheels and thats a 2015.
Im not sure what the tls puts down at the wheels but it aint 286 thats for sure.
2016 ilx tuned with fi is probably quicker than a tls with bolt ons. Thats all im saying. Obviously it would take work but at that point you can run with an sti too.

The TL-S had moderately good power, but it was never a fast car to beat any sports cars in a race.
The ILX has less power, but much more agile and fun to drive.

204whp tuned ILX vs 235whp TL
Wouldn't be hard to pull 30hp from a supercharger and some supporting bolt-ons. Weight difference would make the ILX the easy winner.
But that's obviously comparing a tuned/FI car against a stock/bolt on car. Also a ten year age difference.
TL ages well... but it has definitely aged.

I think it will be close to 60 with the TL edging it out and then all you'll see is TL tail lights 60 and beyond, top of third gear for me is 103-109mph and I still have 3 more gears to go! lol
4th gear, i'm already topping out at 120mph
5th- im at like 145-155mph and then speed limiter kicks in
but sure, slap FI on anything and it will have more ummph!

right! apples to apples tho, the TL would kick the ILX's ass past 60mph.

But like justnspace has said before, I didn't buy this car for the power

The K24 in the ILX is a relatively new engine in the K series family. But the K series has really good potential. It's not uncommon to see K series with 300whp all motor. Of course, that would take quite a bit of work, but nowadays, k series parts are so common and cheap. Heck, even my ancient B series (B16 head + B20 CRV block) with stock GSR cam (not type R, not aftermarket) is making over 200whp.
With that said, it's a new ILX, so you probably won't wanna be doing anything too drastic hahahaha

They're likely even shorter all across the board. More gears in the tranny means they can make them shorter... which I'm sure you know. I think I'm just thinking out loud now. Why am I still talking?

Test drove the 2016 Subaru WRX & STI, fun car to drive. I maybe going the Subaru route and most likely the WRX and not the STI.

Any way.. I find that the WRX drove and felt better than the ILX. Even though its not a luxury car it was up there with the interior with the ILX. WRX has that turbo and AWD vs what does the ILX have?
#63
Does wrx have push to start? Auto door unlock, button to lock, onboard music memory, heated seats, navi, and a back up camera? Thats from my 13 ilx. 16 ilx has even more tech goodies. Thats what makes it luxury.

Yes, there's options for those techs too for the WRX. Probably only thing the WRX doesn't have is the luxury name.

Which WRX are you looking at? This will greatly help in comparison.
Im looking at the WRX build site right now and honestly it looks like the ILX comes with way more.
WRX cant get keyless entry until you go to the same $30,000. But once you click the 30 it instantly turns into $31,190. Odd they dont flat out show the pricing like Acura does.
If you want lane assist, navi, or even keyless entry (which is standard on all ILXs) you have to first get the $31,190 WRX then add the $3,100 package that includes those features. You are now at $34,290 just trying to match the WRX with the same features as the ILX costing $1,300 less.
Aside from that, LED lighting isnt stock on all WRX. You need to spend $30,000 for leather seats. And I see no mention of voice commands, bluetooth, onboard memory, back up camera, seat heaters, and more.
IMO the WRX is a sweet car. Very sporty. But not luxury. IMO the interior almost feels like it's all plastic.

You must of jumped in a standard WRX lol.. Just to answer a few questions, yes on rear camera (with added on-coming car warning) blue tooth and etc.. too many techs.

This is just my opinion. The ILX is a girls car, not a grown woman but a girls car.

Only one trim level from the ILX had no leather. For the WRX that's two. Similar for LEDs which come standard on all ILX models.
Maybe we should just agree to disagree. If you like the WRX more then go buy one and be on your way. No harm to use if you do. But frankly we all for the most part enjoy our ILX so you can save your opinions frankly. We dont care.

I honestly think ILX has the best combination of power, features and fuel economy for 30K car.
I have 2016 ILX and last week, I did a trip to Toronto - Niagara Falls round trip, driving 110 - 115 km/hr all the way and I got 5.5L/100km on the highway, which is equivalent to 43MPG. How many 200 hp compact car can achieve 43 MPG on the highway I wonder.

Ilx also has lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation, forward collision warning, lame departure warning, blind spot monitor, rear view cam with 3 different angles, etc. pretty cool

We all have our opinions. Personally I see the WRX as the go to car for a teenager begging for attention. Might just be who I see driving them around where I live. But they all have black plastidipped wheels, ebay exhaust, and try to race anything that looks modded.

Anyway good feedback though ahaha..
Still waiting for inventory to fill up at dealers so I can have some leverage in negotiating. Right now most are sold out in the Bay Area.

Three Wheelin'
Actually, a New Beetle convertible is much more a "girl's car" than the ILX. I "inherited" an NBC when I married and I ended up driving it quite a bit before I sold it (because it was a money pit waiting to happen). It was a fun enough car, although its reliability and quality leave much to be desired. But I'm secure enough that I don't care what others think of me. If you're looking at spending around $30k max, the ILX is a tremendous value.
#77
I must agree the front end of the 13 - 15 ILX did seem a bit more "feminine" to me, especially in white (which I had )
But, as others have said, in the $30k range, I think it is a solid value car. I think the ILX draws people looking for a premium/luxury nameplate, luxury features, and better build quality than an Accord or Civic (haven't driven the newest Civic yet, which has been getting rave reviews, but looks ugly imo) while still posing as a good value compared to the competition (A3/CLA/etc)

Well, I must say, not to think of it, I believe my starbucks DID taste slightly more basic in my ILX than my TL...

I know people seriously think I'm being a douche when I say it... but I'm serious girls are always like "OHHHH Nice car"... and then dudes too... they'll be like... "That's a nice Acura"... and the best compiments I get? "NICE LEXUS!!" Or "WHOA SICK ASS LEXUS!!" OR "WHOA THATS YOUR TL?!?!" HAhAHAHA
Literally NO ONE ever knows what the hell an ILX is HAHAHAHAHA Sometimes i get TSX or RSX... Its not even a coupe, WTF?

Today I took my ILX to Big Johns Performance. Check out their site to get an idea of the clintel they are used to. Typically lowriders/lifted trucks. Or the occasional grocery-getter if their husband takes their truck there.
They do have one employee, older asian guy, who drives a b18 swapped del sol. So he knows about those "imports us kids are crazy about."
But when he asked if I wanted his guy to grind down a bolt to get some more camber out of the front I told him Id pick up a camber kit. His response "yeah thats what Id do. Clean ride, you should do it right the first time."
That was a good compliment.
