So I have pinpointed to sound that I thought was engine vibration or pinging to a buzzing sound that only occurs just under 2000 rpm in second or third gear. I can recreate the sound and the sound is continuous when putting my ilx in manual mode and driving around in second or third gear and holding it at 2000 rpm. The sound is not present when car is in neutral And pushed to that RPM. I am going to an Acura dealership on Monday but I wanted to ask anyone on these forums if they have any experience with this and potentially what I can ask them to look at for the problem? Thanks in advance if anyone is able to shed some light on this issue !

 

I had the same issue where car would buzz between 2k and 3k RPM. It seems it was more noticeable once the engine is warmed up. It was quite easy to duplicate too as I was able to just change to manual mode and then just rev at 2~3k RPM. My dealership told me it was an exhaust issue. They replaced the down pipe and put extra insulator on below passenger side. Since then the buzzing/droning noise is gone hope this helps.

 

Thanks for that. I had taken it to two different Acura dealers who wouldn’t help me citing bad gas that’s why I thought it was engine pinging but I didn’t think bad gas was possible. Took it to a third dealer yesterday and a service tech finally went with me to duplicate the issue took the car apart and found out it was a fuel line out of place under the driver seat and fixed it for me. Issue completely gone! Very happy about that because the sound was driving me nuts
