Saying Hi and two questions...

Hey Everyone!

My name is John and I have been into Hondas since 1992 yeah Im old...LOL I have owned many of them and have worked on more than I can count from Show to Drag to Road racing you name it. Personally I have owned a heavily modded, EM1, S2000, 2010 SI, Evo X, WRX, Fit not to mention lightly modded 2010 Accord, 2008 Element and Mazda 3 hatchback (last three were wifeys

two questions:

Anyone know if window visors will be available at some point for the ILX looking for OEM ones not aftermarket?

What are you guys doing about mounting the front plate? I live in CA and am looking for an alternative mounting bracket? not looking to drill into the bumper

Thanks for any input!

John

Welcome aboard, John! Glad you found us. If you already have an ILX, we'd all love to see pictures and hear more about your plans for it. I met the accessory product planners at Acura and asked specifically about visors. There are currently not any plans to offer OEM window visors for the car. In fact, they don't even offer an OEM moonroof visor for it. I'm using one from a 2012 Civic sedan that happens to fit perfectly.

Not sure on the front plate question since I live in Arizona and we don't have front plates here, but hopefully someone else will chime in on that.

Hello and welcome. My car came with the plate already installed but from my experience with other cars you could do an Evo style mount. It's tough with the ILXs front bumper because the only area I could see the plate going is over one of the air dams next to the fog lights.. And that would affect how much air goes in there. I will look at it and see if I can come up with more ideas but hopefully someone else will have one.

Perhaps one day WeatherTech will come out with window visors. :|

Welcome to the ilx fan club John haha. Your not the only that's a gear head here. As for visors, who knows.. Acura won't even make a hood bra.

And front license plate, they screwed mine directly into the bumper. So I couldn't move mine even if I wanted to because the holes would be there. ):

Yours are open holes? Mine are just there for show. Can't even poke my finger thru them. /:

Hmm.. all but the hybrid models should have fully functional air dams in the bumper. The bumper has ducts that direct air over the radiator since we don't have a very open front bumper. Can you take a picture of them to double check that?

Welcome aboard. What ILX model do you have? I didn't pick that up from your post. Lol, I a had license plate drilled into my bumper, but I removed it and, since my car is black, it barely even shows. I hope you have the 2.4 manual, because there are already 3 of us on here who are lined up to get moving on the mod game.

Lol sorry guys I don't know how I left off the details... D'oh! I bought a white premium 2.4 ILX. Only 160 miles on it right now so I'm only taking it to about 4k RPMs right now so taking it easy.

As far as plans I have friends in the industry and don't know what I'm going to do for coils, but considering skunks since I can get a deal on them of possibly KWs I had them on my S2K and they were awesome but with how cheap I can get skunks ill probably just go that route. I am trying to track down a used Spoon N1 and hack it and make it work for the ILX . Other than a drop and exhaust ill probably put a intake or drop in filter and hopefully find some windshield visors from Honda or Acura? Did the 2012 fit perfect? Got pics? I like the oe wheels so they will stay for a while otherwise ill be looking for CPR's, Spoons or White Regamasters... We will see

John

I just swapped out the bulbs for xenon yellow ones. I was tired of the dull looking white ones. I forgot the sizes, but there the same size as 2012 civic.

Easier then starting your car. None of those need to be removed haha, right under your front bumper where te foglights are; there are 2 holes, stick a Philips head screw driver in there and loosen it up. After just pry it off, I can write a DIY if your still having trouble.

Where did you order the DRL bulb from? if you dont mind me asking. I received mine free as a gift from the same place I got my tint. The housing shows blue like your yellow, but the light output is white/yellow. Not sure if it's supposed to be like that. ill post pictures soon

You probably have a blue halogen bulb so it reflects. You still have effective high beams?

Exactly. I got mine from some rip-off "performance" shop that sells replica stuff in the mall. I wanted to try the raybrig or nokya but 100w is pushing it. I'd stick with 65w bulbs.

Still effective, but not as bright as the stock.

On a side note, just took my car in to the dealer because the "Check Emission Light" kept coming on. I checked the fuel cap, tight as a 14-year-old.

It needs elbow grease....once you take it off the first time, it's never as hard the subsequent times.
