Running out of gas

So my girlfriend has a newer ILX (2013 I think ?) and she is always running late so she drives her car down to very little gas left. The one time I do it and it says "15 miles left till empty", she makes sure to stress the importance of not running the car that low because if you run it out of gas you can't just simply get a gas can and put gas in it, she stated it has to get towed to Acura and they have to do something to the computer system to reset it ... I've never heard of this before but know nothing about Acura's, is this true ??? Or is she just feeding my bullshit bc I gave her something to complain about LOL?

feeding you bullshit.

when the display reaches 0 miles left, you still have a few gallons left in the tank, for just in case.

and no, you dont have to go to the dealer, if you ever run out of gas....all you do is just fill it back up.

Once I got down to 2 miles and I was so worried I will not make it to the gas station. Turned out that once I filled up it stopped around 10.75 gallons. I was kind of in shock because I remember reading on acura.com the car comes with 13 gallon tank. So if I'm driving on the highway, I could still get a good 50-75 miles out of the car even after it reaches 0?

She has no clue what shes talking about. Lmao

Even at 0 you still have about 20 miles i think i read. But regardless you have a decent amount.

As for calling acura. Nothing acura can or needs to do. If you completely run out the car will just die and need more gas. While possibly damaging the fuel pump.

But nothing involving the computer.

i'm going to repeat your question right back to you.

If the ILX has a gas tank capacity of 13 u.s. gallons, and you only used 10.75 gallons, how many gallons of fuel do you have lefT?

13- 10.75=?

its a reserve of 2 gallons. and used for emergencies, as I WOULDNT run the tank ALL the way down, as that's how you destroy the fuel filter/fuel pump

Lol guys, I obviously know how to count, which is why I estimated around 50-75 miles of extra gas on the highway.

but at what speed are you traveling at?

a constant 50mph will give you the most extended range.
stop and go will def. decrease this faster
and anything above 60mph will help decrease it faster, aswell

lol tough guy keyboard warrior OP. Ask dumb questions, get dumb answers.
welcome to the Internet.

What if OP used his brain and be proactive about issues rather than asking all hypothetical questions?

what if an asteroid his the earth tomorrow, will i still need to fill up my gas tank?

Just be sure she uses authentic gas in her car.

But only after she gets authentic wheels.

Wow! you can read shit from 6 months ago. Good for you!!

Or is OEM not authentic enough for you?

By the way, I have forged Weds wheels on one car and top line Enkeis on the other. Soeatajumbobagofdicks

Oem is plenty authentic but I figured someone whos biggest concern was "do these 17in OEM wheels look better than these 18in OEM wheels" may not understand the want for something authentic.

Seeing as how I guess you own authentic wheels; I dont really understand your stab at my signature. But whatever. If thats what makes you happy I wont stop ya.

I am curious as to what car you have weds on and exactly what model weds they are. As well I am curious what your "top of the line" enkeis are.
