Road trip Vegas to San Diego and return 36MPG
Drove around 70 mph avg. and avg. 36 MPG. Great driving car, very comfortable and I'm 5' 10" 230lbs (Gym Rat) The ILX felt solid, no problem keeping up with traffic, merging and over taking slower vehicles. Wife really thinks it is a nice vehicle and she is not a car person. I've owned MB, Lexus, etc. and this is a great car for the $$$. I also did not see one other ILX on the entire 5 day trip . So what value does it add to not be seeing another vehicle just like the one you are driving? Big plus to me. I also though it was funny when a young guy in A gas station in California came over and said nice ride. Last time that happened I was driving my 2008 Aston Martin Vantage.

Nice! Glad to hear the car treated you well, and I'm not surprised you got such great MPG with conservative driving and all-freeway. I routinely get between 32-33 on my combined tanks. Anyway, there is definitely a great exclusivity that comes with owning an ILX which I'm sure will diminish over time. I drove about 1,000 miles this past weekend and didn't see an ILX either. I roll through Vegas frequently (was there Sunday, in fact) so maybe one of these days the ILX you see on the road will be mine. Keep enjoying that car!

Dang...from 2008 Aston Martin to an ILX??? Huge difference dude! I have the hybrid and I'm a bit dismayed that the 2.0 and 2.4L drivers get as good MPG as the hybrid. What speed and techniques were you using to get that? Were you really making an effort to get to the 36mpg (and the other member who got 41+!!!!) or just normal driving? Either way, that's awesome to hear!
I only ask cause my hybrid now avgs 36.5-38.7mpg combined and on econ mode. I did a 170mile trip on Monday non-stop going around 75-90mph and avg'd around 38mpg; and although I was going fast tried to draft behind cars or accelerate into downhills to pick up momentum on the uphill to try and save fuel.

my 41.3 mpg stint was done going 45-55 mph in the snow and it was over the course of 40-ish highway miles...so it's not an accurate gauge. I average 28 or so when you include city / highway mix. The hybrid is definitely better if you do a lot of city.

The ILX and TSX do very very well for mileage.
I started driving my latest demo TSX the other night, and got home with 35.4 mpg on the average. ILX can definitely do better, with less weight and the 2.0L.
Great comments on the ILX!

I think that's pretty good fuel economy for such sustained high-speeds. I tried to pay attention to the average speed screen when calculating my mileage. I find that my drive ends up only averaging about 25 to 27 mph per tank full. In my opinion, this makes my average miles per gallon of 28 to 30 acceptable.

Technology is so facinating considering a 200hp ILX is faster than the cars of the 70s but also nets a huge amount more MPG.. think proportionally of what would happen 40 years from now.
Not to mention 6 speed autos are the norm now and they already have autos with several more gears than that out there in some cars!

Just think.. one day here shortly in the future you will be able to have your cake and eat it too.. 200+horsepower motors making 37/39mpg like it's nothing.

Yep! They have known how to make a car's emission water vapor for a long time now.. it's all just a matter of time. It's truly exciting how technology evolves and how more technology being available only accelerates it's growth!

I recently got 35.6 MPG in my ILX 2.4 on a 1600 mile round trip from North Carolina to New York. Drove mostly Interstates averaging around 75 MPG. I've also found that the displayed MPG is pretty close to my calculated result (maybe a bit high).
I'm curious about how accurate the displayed MPG has been for others. Any comments?
