Redshift Coilovers

So I wanted to verify before I ordered these guys...

http://redshiftmotorsports.com/RedSh...spPackages.htm

I'm wanting to purchase the Koni Sport Kit on Monday.... I know I talked about ordering the AEM intake, but everything I have looked and read shows little gains. So I am just buying a K&N Drop in filter and leaving it alone.

Thoughts on Coilovers?

I would say Redshift's setup and his recommendations apply more to racing than anything. But I have never heard any negatives.

He has several kits. The spring rates on the sports are 6000k for the fronts and 10,000k for the rear. Coming from a set of Ksports that were 5000/6000 I can tell you his spring rates are perfect. The 6000 rears were not stiff enough to hold the rebound of the shock under control and so the back end hopped all over.

Koni yellow struts and shocks are ideal for both track and street comfort.

I just wanted to make sure they fit

I thought that you posted that you wanted a set of koni based coilovers over on the other ILX forums.

These should ride amazing, and most of the reviews on the 9th and 8th gen civics verify that.

I decided to go TEIN.

I agree that the Redshift setups are pretty revered amongst the Civic owners.

I have never heard anything bad about TEIN outside of the old BasiCs. Perhaps it was an improper install.

Funny you should jump to that conclusion first... seems rather judgemental.

Here... wonder if Tein would model close to the TSX

I don't get what you mean. I said perhaps, as in perhaps there are several possible reasons as to why it was "like crap", like rim size, height adjustment, damper adjustment, ect.. I didn't jump to a conclusion. And, you're telling me you couldn't of Googled if a Koni shock has ever blown?

It just feels like you're wanting to provoke an irrational argument about this. There is nothing to argue.. you asked me if I said I was going Koni based and I said I decided TEIN. What's funny? Where's the argument you're searching for?

It's a good time to buy them, while the sale is on. And, yes I think Koni are some of the best shocks/struts you can buy.. I PERSONALLY don't find the price justifiable for MY use. Any other "thoughts" you'd like to hear on coilovers? Because you sound sold on Koni and anything else is blasphemy..

I wasn't trying to start anything. I posted my comment based on your 2 word response compared to what was posted on the other forums. I simply was curious as to why you changed your mind.

Did I read into your comment about "Perhaps it was Installed wrong".. probably... but by no means was I trying to start an argument.

I am sorry. No harm, no foul.

Regardless I am always up for seeing ILXs with drops.

My honest response to the thread...

I've had 19" Stance SC-5ive wheels authorized to be purchased on my debit card for like 3 days. Decided that I probably should fix the suspension stuff first as most of the forum seems to be heading that direction.

I canceled the wheels, and saw that the redshift's were koni based and got excited. I was rather disappointed when the comment on got back was "They Will"

Call me childish I know. haha

I have never heard of them. A quick Google check on reviews and experiences from people who have purchased would be good. But, I am sure you already would

I've been dying to see these style of wheels on this car. Please tell me you're not going matte black on these beautiful rims?

Only partially. The barrel of the wheel (Believe that's what it's called) is a matte black. The spoke faces are machined and the lip is polished.

Looks like these:

The brand is used by G35/350z owners and several import owners. The only complaint I have seen from the owners is the ball joints wear out after a while, but I would imagine with the cars being lowered as far as they are, that could play a part in it.

That seems to be the cheapest set you could get. Unless there are others I'd say its a bargain!
