R20 Tuning Solution

Hey everyone.

KTuner has asked me to get some interest going with the R series guys for a tuning solution.

Here is the recent post from KTuner for the R18 combo deals.

This is for their recent black friday deal but the R18 flash is about to launch.
I asked if this would be compatible with the R20 and was told YES it can.

This is very good news! Looks to be good pricing as well. Who's interested?

What's this?! Power solution for the R20?! I have to see results first then maybe I'd scrap the idea of getting the 6 speed.

Right?! The r18 numbers should shine more light on spec we can expect. Can't wait for those units to start moving. The thread on 9thgen moves quick so there are a number of r18 guys going to buy.

If hondata r18 numbers are any inclination than we are looking as some pretty nice agains!
I will be a definite buyer and then I'll be buying another retune once I go f/I which will be so much better with a tune.
I am very excited now.

You should be excited, especially if you're going forced induction. I saw that the R18 was killing the k24 with the Kraftwerks supercharger and I think it still got great mpgs.

I'm interested, but would be new to the flash tuning game. Does this invalidate the Acura warranty?

Just curious, what kind of numbers would this performance boost yield? Sounds like a good solution to the low power of that SOHC R20

Well I decided to go with suspension and interior mods right now. As well putting my funds in other directions so I decided to not purchase the unit. If anyone is interested I can give you an e-mail address to possible strike a deal for the unit.

Keep in mind, for the people asking about gains. Without any mods you are looking at minimal gains for the R series. Even with a few bolt ons gains will not be too crazy. Look up ktuner options for R18s and you will get a good idea.

Later down the line I plan on going with this option int he future. As of now I am interest in other avenues.

I'm interested if I wind up holding onto my ILX for awhile. Will such an update to the car's PCM void the car's warranty?

YES. I wont lie I have no idea what PCM is. But flashing your ECU will void any warranty a dealership has for you on the car as you are heavily changing the way it runs... i.e. fuel/air ratio and maybe shift timing.

I do still plan on running this in the future. It is a must to get the best bang from your buck with bolt ons. Just right now Id rather out my money into other avenues as well wait for my warranty to expire.

Derp, I meant ECU and not the Powertrain Control Module. Thanks for the honest answer about the warranty.

That's actually not accurate. The flashes are fully dealer compatible and you can flash back to stock at any time. They'd never know.
