Looking to buy 16 ilx tech plus aspec
Hey everyone!
I just graduated from college last month at the age of 23 and my family is fortunate enough to get me an unbelievably nice present of a new / slightly used car! I currently own a 2001 Acura TL I have had since I was 16 and has only 120K and I absolutely love it to death, but its starting to age and the grandparents really want to get me a new car.
So my ideal replacement would be a 2015 TLX, sounds typical right? But I really love the redesign of the 16 ilx. The main features I want in a new car is adaptive cruise control (acc) and lane keep assist (lka). I love the ilx tech plus offers both! Im dissapointed the ilx's ACC does NOT have low speed follow, which I think would be super cool for traffic, but i guess that is a first world problem am i right?
So I went to the local dealer today and drove the car. Overall Im very impressed. While it is a tad bit slower than my current 3.2L V6 220hp TL, it wasnt bad for what it was, and getting 25/36 mpg would be a nice upgrade.
So i guess if Im going anywhere with this thread, is a new 16 ilx worth it? The tech plus aspec was $35,000. Has anyone purchased one already and what kind of price did you actually pay for it? This is my main option, but I am also considering waiting 2 years for a 2015 TLX to depreciate to the high 20's and pick one up then.
Suggestions...commments....ideas....?

I was going to get the TECH Aspec but not in stock in the color I wanted, ended up getting the Premium Aspec: the following was my pricing quote for the dealer, it was the end of the month (Palm Beach, Florida~May 2015) and they wanted sales...other dealers would beat it but i had to drive over an hour, figured for a few $ was not worth the drive,

spoiler900....Congrats on graduating and understanding the importance of a good education
The ILX is a great car and while it may not have as much omphhh as your TL, as you said, the fuel mileage will be great.
We have a 2014 ILX with the 2.0L and a 5 speed transmission and we get on average 7.1L/100km which is about 33 mpg. I know the 2016 has a bigger engine but it also has a better and more efficient transmission so I think the numbers will be similar. You are fully aware that these will vary by the driving habits so if you drive aggressively, your fuel savings will be going out the window.
The TLX is a great car is if you want to wait a year r two and get a used one, that is not a bad idea but in my opinion, if you don't need the size of the TLX, the TLX will be a great upgrade and gives you something to upgrade to in a few years from now

Maybe ask your dealer and expect a big NO or suggestion to buy autozone car seat covers LOL
(Don't do that.)

Congrats on your graduation, I think your best value if you really want the Aspec package would be premium with Aspec and use the iphone add on app for nav if needed. If you can hold off awhile wait for CPO, you'll be surprised you will see them on dealer lots by the end of the year
Hey everyone, thanks for all the suggestions. After much thought, I think I am going to go with a TLX. Its a bit bigger and I am just going to be patient and wait a year or so for a nice one come out pre owned at a good price. Thanks again for the input and I cant wait to start seeing some 16 ILXs on the roads!
I actually kinda like the Lux Suede inserts. Helps keep your ass/back from melting when you jump into a hot interior, especially since the ASpecs are all black.
I haven't sat in the full leather ones, but I'd assume you would slide around in the seat a bit more on the smoother surface.
Its a great car, a great mid cycle refresh, and yes you can really get easily 30-35mpg combined with this thing; its a marvel of efficiency for its size/weight. (2000rpm @ 80mpg in 8th gear helps too, lol)

Wait a few months (If you want 2016 seats which are slightly different I think). and look around local junkyards for wrecked ILX's being parted out. Purchase the Ebony leather seats and swap them in. Sell your 50/50 leather suede on the ILX club page on Facebook to the 2013-2015 guys with out 50/50 seats.

Rather than swap seats, wouldn't it be easier getting the non-Aspec with the aero kit accessory? The price difference between the two would pretty much pay for the kit, and it'd look more aggressive but still maintain a pseudo A-spec look.
If the kit is too wild, the A-spec specific parts (trunk spoiler, side sills, fogs, fog grilles, wheels) could all be ordered from the parts catalog. But that would likely be more expensive than getting the A-spec model itself.
