Okay, so all along I've thought people were crazy to post about the doors retaining water but I'm finally believing it now. That explains why a handful of times (on perfectly dry days) I'll hear water gushing around, but it's usually only on the first drive of the day. I've always thought it sounded like it was overhead but it could very well be within the doors.

Beyond the things you've mentioned, I have a few others. I keep a small notepad in the car and write down when I notice something. It's valuable feedback for Acura and I plan on sharing it with them.

You mentioned the trunk release. Mine doesn't have an issue recognizing that the fob is there when I go to open it from outside, but it will have an issue if I go to CLOSE the trunk with the same hand that's holding the fob. The car will think the fob is INSIDE the trunk and thereby pop the lid back open. Proximity sensor is out of whack.

Interesting.. When I checked my door it wouldn't let water in. It maybe getting trapped inside the two weather strips that are on the exterior window there are 2 layers about 2 inches from each other. However I didnt even see that. I'd take off the interior door panel and have someone spray the door (closed of course) and see where all the water goes as you can see more from the inside.. It's def not going down into the bottom of the doors though.

We'll see what happens.

They probably wouldn't let me do any TSB even if they did one because I Dynamat'd my doors lol.. you know how Honda and every other company likes to blame other stuff for their mistakes.

Aaaah, so that's what that water noise is.

I was wondering what that was. Every time I hear it, I look around the car to see if there is a half empty (half full) water bottle laying around. I also thought that it cold be the fuel cause a lot of times I hear the fuel splashing around in the rear (luxury car my ass).

Now it makes sense.

I have never heard a sloshing sound..

There are a lot of places water funnels or drains around the car's trunk and hood to avoid collecting too much water. I just can't fathom the concept that all that water is in the doors.. I checked it immediately after it rained and it was completely dry inside the skin. Scary thought though.... I hope someone finds out where that sound you're hearing comes from.

I'm pretty sure that if water was sloshing in your doors, your speakers would short and the electric motor for the doors would likely follow suite.

It's not a huge amount of water, just enough to make the windows appear web and a few drops coming out the bottom. Thankfully, I don't hear any sloshing sounds--yet--but I live in a fairly dry climate and park the car inside in a garage.

I wonder if in 2-3 years the radio displays will go blank like my TSX's did (and still are).
Did you dad have his car battery changed? This can cause the stereo system to stop functioning until you enter a code to restart it.

I believe that the "sloshing" that some of us have heard is coming from water trapping in the driver side floor/molding (to the left of trunk release) rather than the doors themselves. Just my take.

Thumbs up 6 speed issue fixed.

Hard to describe, but feels like a "popping" when putting it into second; have to finesse it in. No issues apparent in 5th or 6th.

Had an 07 accord V6 6spd mt 4-door and never had an issue, and drove it hard.
Any ideas or suggestions appreciated. Taking it back to dealer next week.
Thanks all!
Took car back to dealership....only had 1st, 3rd, 5th for a 140km drive. Turns out a clip that keeps the linkages together wasn't firmly seated, so every shift loosened the linkage....after 2 weeks, felt like it was going to fall out.

All fixed, and kudos to Acura of Barrie Ontario for great customer service.

Thumbs up Ilx rattle from dash area

Hey all. Been troubleshooting a really annoying rattle/vibration coming from the dash area. Only had the car 3 weeks now, but think I have it solved. It appears to be coming from the steering wheel / air-bag cover. On uneven pavement the rattle is brutal; sounds like it was coming from inside the air vent right beside the start button. Finally, though I've noticed it goes away if I apply pressure to the top of the steering wheel cover just below the 12:00 position. Hope this helps any of you that might have the same problem. (Now to take it back to get permanently fixed.)

Add another "issue" to the list.

I've began to hear my exhaust make a rattling noise, mostly when I go over bumpy roads driving down-hill or just over uneven surfaced roads.

Anyone else experience the same?

No exhaust issue here. Have the dealer make sure the exhaust is on the hangers properly. And, maybe touching the heatshields.

I noticed the paint mismatch when I picked up my car. The manager and salesman told me give it a time, let it sit on the sun for a while and if it doesn't make change at all bring it in and they will polish it. The thing is I dont want them to polish the bumper, it wont really make any changes, if they replace or repaint the whole rear bumper thats a different story and i'd pretty much let them fixed it.

I actually noticed the same thing when I first gave my car a full detail. I addressed the problem last week at the dealership. The guy said it's slightly different because the bumpers need to be more flexible.

I compared my car on 3 white ILX in the dealership, one is perfectly fine, the other 2 is on the same level as mine.

Lighter colors tend to have the not perfectly color matched issue. Yellow S2000 almost always don't match their bumpers perfectly. White cars and sometimes silver cars have this issue too, dark colors should be less noticeable if not better matched than the lighter colors

Someone with an RDX (2013) reported the EXACT same problem, and the location where to apply the pressure to make it stop. They replaced the air bag assembly in the steering wheel...problem was solved.

Ok I got a question to see if its an issue or not... My hood is a PITA to close if I don't drop it from 8-10 inches and practically let it slam it will not close is it hard to close your hood? Or is my car got some type of latch or hood spacer issue?

Hehe. Yeah, when I open the hood, the usual height I'm accustomed to when closing the hood is met with a wah wah wah sound and I have to drop it from higher than I normally would on any other car.

Generally aluminum hoods need a higher drop to close. The S2000 had to be dropped from 2-3 feet to latch without you touching it.

My hood is the same. I have to drop it from twice as high as the integra. And no matter how hard I push it wont latch.

What about brake whine? When I lightly depress the brake peddle I hear a faint squeak squeal or whine coming from the brakes??? Guessing its the pads Acura used semi metallic? I've been debating about taking to the dealer since I know it's not a performance issue but its not like I'm running race pads lol!!! Under hard or mild braking the noise is not there.

Anyone else have this issue?

I had 2 issues that I had addressed by the dealer when I got my A1 service. The first was a rattling noise in the rear driver side door, which turned out to be the window regulator. That was fixed.

The second issue was the weather stripping on top of the car (not the sunroof area) by the rear glass was coming up. They re-glued down and it seems to be okay.

Minor but I'm going to put a claim thru when I go in for my first oil change.

I was thinking about just putting some of that "back to black" oil which I have but I'd rather get it replaced since I'm still in warranty lol

op, did you get the weatherstripping replaced?

My weatherstripping on the sunroof is fading too. Dealer said it had to do with the person who detailed the car. I want to put a claim through, but I'm worried that they'll f-up the install so I'll deal with it .

Let's see how it goes then, to me it's so minor I can live with it. I'll try the oil that I have. When I do my first oil change and it looks worse, im going to get it replaced.

thanks for the update

The most annoying thing about the water in the doors issue is that I spend two hours Saturday getting the car in pristine condition--washing, polishing, waxing, painting two scratches, etc. Then, my passenger rolled down the window, rolled it up, the window was wet and it was hot out and the nice clean window is full of spots ;(

Paint missing around driver-side passenger door

I found this forum while looking for "paint problems with ILX."

First of all. I love my ILX. I've owned VW's so I'm used to going to forums to find out what will break next. Here I just see minor problems which is good.

My problem is that I'm missing small pieces of paint around the driver-side passenger door (inside the doorjam). These are 1/4" spots where the paint is completely gone and bare metal is showing. There are 3-4 spots along the fender piece inside where the door closes.

There aren't any scratches around the spots so I don't think it's something like the seat belt getting caught or someone trying to jimmy the door open.

I'll try to post a pic. I'm at work right now so I can't.

I'm going to show the dealer at first oil change. Since it's inside the door, it should only require painting that immediate section and hopefully not the entire fender or side of the car. It looks like a manufacturing defect and I don't want it to rust or get worse later on.

2013 ILX 2.4 6MT with 47,300 miles

Got in the car today and noticed a huge gap where the tweeter mounts to the driver's door panel. It wasn't secure. Reached up to push it back in and the whole thing fell out. It doesn't snap in flush.

Mine doesnt sit insanely flush but it looks correct and even all the way across and on both sides. Pressing it it had a bit of play and it was easy to pull away. Just as easy to push back. Maybe its suppose to fit like that to help the speaker some way.

Yeah, I got mine to push back in and stay there but the gap's still uneven. Not something I'm really worried about.

Btw, for those who have all-weather mats, keep an eye on the letters because apparently they can pop out if your shoe catches them just right. My "I" nearly got lost today. Forgive the disastrous dirt - I'm cleaning these up next week. I have LOVED having these all-weather mats.
