I'm curious to why they're so cheap and how/ if/ why would you/ they would look in ILX housings.

Cheap!?

I guess we have different definitions of cheap.

I believe TRS_andrew said he picked up several and were retrofitting some. maybe these were the scraps?

on the TRS forums, specifically the LED JEWEL eye thread, Jnc (from acurazine) said that with a little trimming of the heat sink, it will be able to fit inside the 3G TL headlights.

ALso, andrew provides a coupon code for us acuraziners, if ya'll wanna buy things from TRS

Am I the only one looking at that horrible cut off. Worse then the ILX currently has not to mention worse than the already shitty 3G TL.

Yeah callin you out Justin.

My tech did. The base doesn't. Poor guys.

Seriously though. The TL is known to have one of the best cut offs in the game. I was so happy to find the ILX has the same cut off. Seeing those jewel eyes in the pictures on that site make me realize I would be hugely disappointed if I lost the cut off I currently see.

I haven't had first hand experience in a 3G TL or seen their cut offs on a wall yet, but the 3G MDX's are great! My TSX's is good too. 2014 Santa Fe 2.0T? I avoid driving it at night because:
1) No HID, just yellow ass, dim Halogens
2) The headlights are pointed straight into the ground giving me maybe 15ft of light ahead where as the TSX was around 30ft and the 3G MDX was about the same (High beams will show you stuff all the way in the next state).

$500 is cheap compared to the $2000 whatever the cost at Acura (It doesn't come witht he housings, ok).

3G TL with these headlights would be something to see. What about the 2G RDX and ILX..? That seems more inline if their MMC's don't bring Jewels to the table.

Id say Justin doesnt think that is cheap because it is basically $500 to replace just the the hid projector and high beam bulb. Something that could cost half that without the added cost of retrofitting.

As for your TSX, depending on if it is the newest gen it could have very similar hids as the tl like the ilx. Acura in general has good cut off but the hid used on the 3g tl and Im sure every HID equipped acura since then has had amazing cut off.

right, those MDX jewel lighting from TRS, is meant for a project.
I can revamp my projectors for a lot less than that!

and fitting them into the 3rd gen TL would only be for a project purposes, so some one could actually say they have the jewel lights...

the plan for acura is to have AWD and jewel lights in all of their upcoming models.

I'm surprised people actually like the jewel lights.

I love how they look when the new rdx and rlx are coming up from behind.
I totally gives Acura a new look in the road similar to what audi has with their lighting and Lexus with theirs.
However seeing the cut off, I am not willing to forgo the gorgeous functionality of the tl type cut off we already have. The light output looks like a downgrade. When that catches up I'll bite.

The cut off really isn't bad though. I think those pictures show badly adjusted headlights, if even in housings. We had a MDX for a few nights and the light output was amazing and I remember the cut off being a sharp line all the way across with only 2 jags, one on each side and I think that was from the arrangement of the LED's and different angels they were set at.

I have a shitty video.

Aaaah. That would leave to to believe yes that is indeed the cut off not installed. I can't imagine them being any better retrofit though.

They're huge so a difficult retrofit for sure. One of the guys on HID Planet is doing well with his, however: http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/show...n-Accord-Coupe.

I'm doing the 2014 Lexus IS LEDs in my setup--far easier to fit into the housings.

This is something I would love to do. Money is the main thing though. Buying these and new housings to chop up, this is an $1000 project. I also think it would be pretty difficult to aim these things correctly and be able to have them set correctly in the housing. Neat idea and I can't wait to see how the accord turns out.
